Dark Horse provides stylish self-contained cottage accommodation near forest and beaches on the stunning Barrington Coast, NSW. Set on our 10 acre farm on the site of an old dairy, we've built a unique one bedroom cottage including some of the original timbers to create an airy open plan space opening onto views of the small valley and paddocks, picking up the sea breezes. We're located just 8kms north of Nabiac on the Mid North Coast, just off the Pacific Highway. Forster is a 10 min drive. The enchanting farm cabin is just for the two of you, ideal for a romantic getaway, honeymoon or peaceful holiday retreat. Gaze at the stars or out to the lilies on the dam and listen to the frogs and birds, or take a book and just relax... Enjoy a good night's sleep in your comfy European queen bed, with Sheridan pure linen sheets. The bedroom has blockout curtains to ensure you sleep as long as you need to. The bathroom is supplied with botanical toiletries. All our water is rain water, collected and filtered. It's super soft on your hair and skin. The large bath is perfect for a long soak in pure filtered rainwater In the morning, enjoy cooking your complimentary BBQ breakfast hamper with eggs, mushrooms and fresh tomatoes, hash browns and toast. The three sets of French doors opening onto the verandah are locally handmade. Sit out on the verandah overlooking the paddocks and your horses... you may spy our resident moorhen family busy at work! With a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor BBQ, you can cook up a storm, adding flavours from herbs from our country garden. Some kitchen essentials are provided (Nespresso coffee machine & pods, oil, salt and pepper). Alternatively, dine out at some of the great local restaurants and cafes 5 minutes drive away. Our farm is home to our two super friendly horses and 5 hardworking chickens! You will see sheep and goats over the fence. They love being hand fed. For your horse-riding adventure, Horse Accommodation is available. Please message us prior to booking to confirm availability for horses and to clarify access for your float. There are 3 separate secure paddocks available. Go for a 2 km leisurely ride down our quiet road to 7700 acres of Talawahl Forest with miles of fire trails and tracks to explore; or float your horse 14km to Nine Mile Beach or Diamond Beach to ride along the beach. Blue Metal Equestrian hold regular coaching days at their terrific facility and are 500m up the road.
