The garden offers plenty of space for children and pets to play, and a covered area provides bike storage for guests who'd like to explore the stunning surrounding countryside on two wheels.
We had such a FANTASTIC stay that we extended our stay by one day. Just the newness, cleanliness, amenities, layout, location and views made it such a nice place to stay! So relaxing and the BEST part was, after our long car journey, arriving and having a locally, freshly baked victoria sponge cake waiting for us with tea and milk. And a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge! The owners were so accessible and responded straight away to any inquiries even letting us know we didn’t need to rush out of the house for 10 am check out. Will definitely come again!
Very nice house. Everything appeared to be new and we had lots of room. It was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay while visiting friends who live in Cricieth!
Amazing air bnb!! Frances was fantastic with a good level of contact and useful information. There was everything we could possibly need at the accommodation on arrival including some extra special bits. The accommodation itself was immaculate and well equipped with beautiful sea views and easy access to the town. We had a great stay and hope to come back again some time 😊
This stylish contemporary bungalow with far-reaching sea views is ideally located in central Criccieth, and is well placed for exploring both Eryri (Snowdonia) and Pen Llyn (the Llyn Peninsula).
Criccieth itself is a charming coastal town with a lot to offer, well known for its famous ruined castle, which sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea, and its long, pebbly beach. Lazy days can be easily whiled away exploring the ramparts, meandering along the seafront and browsing the shops and galleries that line the high street. You'll find plenty of cafes where you can enjoy a sweet treat, and no shortage of places to eat out with restaurants including Poachers and Spice Bank on the high street, and Dylan's on the seafront. A path leads from the garden of Yr Awel directly down to the town centre, making it a very easy walk to the various cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops, and of course, the beach.
Just outside Criccieth the village of Llanystumdwy offers some lovely walking routes and is home to the Dwyfor Rabbit Farm, much loved by generations of visitors and locals alike. Other nearby attractions include Dragon Raiders Activity Park, a family-friendly park which offers quad biking, paintballing and Segway trails; Glasfryn Park which offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities including ten-pin bowling, archery and go-karting along with an aquapark, and for adrenaline junkies Zip World Llechwedd is approximately a half hour drive, enjoy the thrilling Titan zip line, take the Deep Mine Tour or enjoy some subterranean fun with Bounce Below and underground golf.
In Porthmadog, around a 10 minute drive from Yr Awel, you'll find more independent shops, such as the fantastic Glosters, which stocks a wide range of handmade ceramics and crafts from local artisans, and the Portmeirion shop which includes a first floor cafe with window tables providing a great spot to watch the world go by. Visit the Purple Moose Brewery, head to the whimsical world of Portmeirion village or jump on the Welsh Highland or Ffestiniog railways and enjoy a ride through the stunning surrounding landscape.
In the opposite direction you'll find the spectacular natural beauty of Pen Llyn, with around 100 miles of beautiful coastline and a wealth of charming villages and unspoilt countryside, it's an outdoor lover's dream. Head to the northern coast to explore hidden coves and rugged landscape, or to the southern coast for long, sheltered sandy beaches. Cyclists, walkers and watersports enthusiasts will never tire of this lovely part of Wales.
