Get ready for a huge trip. This converted farmhouse would be the perfect place to host a family reunion or a getaway for a big group of friends. You’ll be staying in Redmain, a hamlet just outside Cockermouth, surrounded by beautiful countryside and fairly close to the sea. Enter through a porch and go ahead into the lounge. It’s a comfortable and cosy place with exposed beams, a tiled floor and a wood burner. Continue to the conservatory, which is equipped with a dining table and a seating area, so make the most of the sunlight and look over the garden. There’s a formal dining table, and then a kitchen/diner with a long stone table. The ground floor also has a downstairs WC, pantry, boot room, utility room, and finally a double bedroom with an en-suite shower. Head upstairs, where you’ll find two twin rooms, both with en-suite shower rooms, and a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. Go through the hallway and up two more steps, where there are two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, and finally head to the upstairs corridor for two super-king-size bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Both have showers over the baths. The property is finished by an outdoor dining area, so you can get fresh air as you eat, and an enclosed garden. There are places all around you to explore and enjoy. To start with, plan a day on the beach in Allonby, 8.5 miles away, or go to Maryport, 7 miles away, which has coastline, go-karting, an aquarium and a marina. The closest town is Cockermouth, 3 miles away, where you’ll find lots of nice places to eat and a weekly market. Finish the break with a day at Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve (7 miles).
