Great stay. Charming cabin on the river. Heaters could’ve been better but sweaters and socks made it cozy.

Lovely secluded cabin right on Sac River. Nothing could beat the location and privacy. The cabin was true to description, almost. The listing calls out that the cabin would get chilly and that there are room space heaters available, however it doesn't say anything about how chilly. The outside temp dropped to 29-32 F and the cabin was freezing. My thermometer showed 42 F inside the cabin when we arrived and after running the two heaters on full all night the cabin reached 68 F in morning. The front wooden door is a bit of a patch work and was barely able to keep cold away. The windows were very drafty and we had to keep the insulating blinds down all day to keep the cold out. There was no down comforter for queen bed which made it worse. There was a half consumed bottle of wine - not sure as a gift (weird) or previous guests left back. I am sure this would be a great experience in warmer weather.

The cabin was in a beautiful and peaceful spot. Some of us used the earplugs to sleep through the trains and some were able to ignore the train sounds. We enjoyed walks in the local area and at Castle Crag State Park. We visited the Railroad Park and Dunsmuir, Shasta, and McCloud. The cabin was a bit smaller than we thought from the pictures, but fairly comfortable with the 4 of us adults. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans. The stove fits the cabin decor and we were able to cook and bake with it. With the use of the 2 heaters we were cozy on our cooler days. We would visit again.

3rd time staying here. Extraordinary surroundings and deck. The cabin is not fancy, but darn cozy. And there is good fishing a short walk up the river. This is a special place.
