Further afield, you can visit stunning Derwentwater (27 miles) which can be accessed from the town of Keswick, also known as the ‘Adventure Capital’ of the Lakes. A short stroll from the town centre takes you out to Friar’s Crag which affords beautiful views across the lake. Other towns you may want to visit include Penrith (10.5 miles) or the larger county town of Carlisle (22 miles).
