This is one of the few opportunities to step back 10 years when AirBnB was in it's golden years. Sam has had the forethought to make every aspect of the reservation and stay as thoughtfully considered as one could wish for, all while still feeling like it's your own home! The house is tucked away on a beautiful piece of land with forest stretching away for miles, definitely recommend hiking about if you can. Also, consider the Bavarian restaurant as a change up if you're not up for cooking one of the nights (Bromwyn's was excellent!), but otherwise the kitchen is fully stocked and ready for plenty of family feasts sat around the round table. We had such a restorative time in between ski trips that we extended our stay for some extra hikes in the sunshine. Thank you from all of our family Sam, we have some new cherished memories that we'll be back to add onto!
We loved staying here! The space was great for a weekend trip to visit surrounding towns. It was great to explore outside with the various trails around the house. Just like the pictures
The house was delightful. The ambiance and space was just right for us. The kitchen and large sitting area were decorated great and the house has a comfortable feel. The location is a short 10 min drive to Manchester and Arlington is a delightful town. The property is spacious and walkable to views. The host was communicative and welcoming. We’d def stay here again.
If you are looking to get away from it all without being far from town, this is the place. Up a small winding dirt road, it opens to a beautiful spacious, and completely private yard that is enormous. Walks in the woods, appreciating nature, and scenic views from every direction. The home is reminiscent of an upscale lodge with tons of space to entertain or just kick back. This would be a great setting for a wedding. Several sitting areas, a large living room, two dining areas, a huge open format kitchen, cute baths on either end of the large home, windows galore, and silence - total silence - no cars driving by, just serenity. One of my usual issues with hotels I did not have here. The beds are super comfortable! :) All of this is set right in Arlington, VT. a 5-minute drive to the center of town and not far at all from Bennington or Manchester! 5 Stars in both setting and service. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. In fact, I didn't want to leave.
Arlington Vermont is steeped in history. We used to be the State Capital in 1777 and are home to the famous Green Mountain Boys, Norman Rockwell and Martha Canfield Fisher. We have several small grocery stores, ATMS and cute new restaurants in town. Short drive to Sugar Shack, The Dairy Bar, Arlington Inn, Ramuntos Brick Oven Pizza and we know have a super cool German Restaurant in town called Bronwyn's on the Battenkill . Don't miss out on getting your morning latte and breakfast sandwich from Bonnie and Clydes Corner Market. Tube or Fly Fish on the Famous Battenkill River right below us, go to Grout Pond, Kellystand or Somerset lakes or go to Lake Shaftsbury (less than 10 minutes). We are minutes to Hildene, the home of Robert Todd Lincoln, The Robert Frost home and Park McCaullagh Mansion in nearby Bennington Vermont. For an amazing view go to the top of Mt. Equinox and hike or take in the views. Don't forget to visit Earth, Sky and Sun farm and the Manchester Designer Outlets where you will find great restaurants and cafes, the Northshire Bookstore, woodworking/ sign- making stores, and shopping. Arlington is one of the only towns in VT with a free public 9 hole golf course!
You will need a car to get around. Our home is on Red Mountain and it is very secluded/private but only about 2 minutes from gas, food and local ATM's and local restaurants.
We are directly above the famous Battenkill River thus, you can walk down go tubing, fly fishing, canoeing down the river and/or hike to Flag Rock, Cedar Rock directly from the house! Mountain trails on the property galore. Nearby, Equinox Resort runs their off road Land Rover driving school on Tory Lane which you can access through the woods from our property or via car. 4 wheel drive recommended.
