Nice boutique hotel with spacious room situated in a quiet and peaceful location. We always get a peaceful sleep at night. Ideal to take a taxi from Nagoya station if you have huge luggages with you. I highly recommend Hotel Rakurakuan when visiting Kyoto.
First place we've stayed that has an elevator, absolute godsend. The apartment was huge in comparison to other places we've stayed and it has a very traditional style feeling. It had probably the coolest night light I have ever seen with in built shoji screen, very cool! Very convenient location close to Gojo station. Lots of places to eat nearby. The door key system wasn't working when we arrived but the host provided an extra way to get the key.
Spacious room, clean, good location, quiet for sleeping, easy communication with the host. Fully recommend this place for your Kioto visit!
Couldn’t recommend this room highly enough! It’s in a great location— within walking distance of Gōjō Station (where you can use coin lockers for as low as 400 JPY/day if you arrive before the 3:00 pm check-in time) and many restaurants, bars, etc. and the check-in process was very easy based on the host’s instructions. The room was very clean and comfortable and had all the amenities we needed.
Our accommodations at Hotel Rakurakuan exceeded our expectations! 😄 Automated check-in was simple and the host provided very helpful instructions prior to our stay. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the neighborhood was quiet. It was the perfect basecamp to rest and relax in between exploring Kyoto. The location is about a ~15 min walk to Kyoto Station and the Nishiki Market. We did use taxis to get to and from the station with our luggage but really enjoyed walking everywhere otherwise. There are lots of hidden gems that you will find walking through the back streets of this neighborhood. If we find ourselves back in Kyoto we will definitely stay at Hotel Rakurakuan again.
