To begin, I’d like to mention that the place was very clean and looked nice. The AC was super cold and made sleeping delightful and the bed was comfortable. We rented out two of the Villa Caribe rooms during our stay in Holguín and I strongly suggest taking a look at the reviews on each of the listings because if we had, we probably wouldn’t have made the mistake of renting here. There’s a few things that caused our time at this location go south. First of all, the father of the host was a major issue. He would constantly come upstairs to check on what we were doing on the third floor, getting angry if there was any water on the floor from the pool when they would fill it to the brim, and just snooping which was rather annoying. Every single person that entered into the home would immediately get carded - understandable, but there’s a way to go about that and being pushy about it isn’t the way. For example: my wife came four days after we did, and was ready to pull her passport out to show and the father said, “no, no rush, just whenever you come back down,” and ten minutes after we went upstairs to get settled, guess who came on up to check on seeing that passport - you guessed it, the father. Coming and going was also a big annoyance. We had no key to the front door or gate that led up to our rooms, so at all hours of the day and night we would have to ring the bell to be let into the porch to be able to go up to our rooms. The breakfast is NOT included: 3 CUC per person and it’s a very basic breakfast of eggs shaped like a tortilla, toast bits and coffee with milk. The internet is also NOT included, it costs 2 CUC an hour. My wife wasn’t able to use the pool during her time at the place because they kept emptying the pool multiple times after she arrived. We would open our door up to walk out into a river of pool water all over the top floor. We hosted a party for our family with the permission of the host. We communicated about it months prior and thought everything was set, but when the party day was coming up, the host made remarks about the “huge favor” he was doing for us when the party was paid for and already planned out, so not quite sure what huge favor it was, but ok. Our last night we got back earlier than other nights and my wife was talking about how nice it would be to take a dip in the pool since she wasn’t able to the other days, and we get upstairs only to discover that they had, once again, emptied the pool and scrubbed it down. Day of check out, the host’s father was poking around early in the morning, peaking in to make sure we were getting ready to leave, when he told us that check out was at noon. Then, as we were packing up and getting everything ready to leave, they started to come into the rooms to pull off the bedsheets and gather up the towels. Really? Couldn’t even wait until we left to dress down the rooms. Guess what else was happening, the pool was getting refilled. I guess they had new guests coming in that they needed to impress. We, however, were not impressed in the least. Oh, and he’s claiming we broke rules while at the place, and we didn’t break any written rule that was provided to us in the common area. We may have broken the rules that they made up on the spot, but only because we weren’t aware of the rule until they told us we couldn’t do it - and we immediately stopped after being told so.

Die Casa ist sehr schön und liegt ca. 5-10 Gehminuten vom Zentrum Holguin entfernt. Sie hat drei Zimmer und eine sehr schöne neue Ferienwohnung auf dem Dach. Die Gastgeber sind sehr sehr nett und angenehm. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Frühstück ist gut und ausreichend. Für die Fahrt zum Flughafen hat er uns einen schönen Chevrolet für wenig Geld besorgt. Einfach Klasse. Wir danken nochmals den netten Gastgebern.
