We had a great stay at Telegraph Station in Penola. The house is so close to everything that we just had to walk out the gate and up the Main Street for breakfast and dinner. The house was clean and very well presented.
Great location with the pub opposite and several wineries within walking distance. The house has an interesting layout, the beds are comfy, and you have everything you need for your stay (although a new bottle opener would be good 😊). Highly recommend!
Absolutely stunning house. Beautiful rooms, especially the little reading room! Toys and a high chair for the kiddos and the outdoor bath was fabulous. Penola was very quiet but friendly and great access to the vineyards. Slight lack of some kitchen utensils, but we were only there for a couple of nights so it was ok.
Nestled among a sea of vines in the world-famous Coonawarra wine region, Penola is a picture-perfect country town with a fascinating history and smorgasbord of food and wine experiences. Enjoy a long lunch overlooking the vineyards at Hollick Estates, stop in at Koonara Wines in the main street to taste a local drop or two and venture on to explore boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. Discover the town’s fascinating history on the heritage walk or relive the days of yesteryear at historic Petticoat Lane. Penola is also famed as the home of Australia’s first saint, Mary McKillop and the special centre created to honour her life is well-worth a visit. #southaustralia
