We had a perfect experience at the Davenport. It was a clean, beautiful, historical inn that was fully renovated to historical accuracy with high end finishes. Extremely comfortable beds, spacious, had everything we needed and more. Did not cut corners in any way. We appreciate things like good coffee and real cream not that fake shelf stable stuff. Home baked goodies and healthy snacks. Filtered water. Great location just far enough away from the noise yet close enough to walk to everything . Really restful sleep, blackout shades, couldn’t hear a pin drop, fabulous beds and bedlinens and towels (plenty too). Excessive Air bnb fees make the place expensive, otherwise price is right on point.
This room was absolutely lovely! We spent our entire time raving about every detail. Will definitely be back here to stay again.

The Davenport Inn is a new gem in the city of Portsmouth! Walking distance to all downtown has to offer, the property and rooms are a perfect mix of historic charm and modern amenity. The beds are very comfortable, the bathroom is spacious and clean, and the little details in our room really made the experience wonderful! We chatted with John shortly after we arrived and he shared the history of the building and all the hard work that went into making this place as special as it is. Parking on site for our 1 car which was very convenient, and it’s just far enough away where you don’t get the busy “night life” of downtown but you are still close enough to walk to enjoy it. Communicating with the hosts was very easy and they were quick to respond and attentive. We will absolutely be staying here again. Highly recommend!

There are beautiful brick sidewalks taking you from our front door to all of the best restaurants and retailers. Heading to the beach or on your way to a special event? Fortunately, the coast is just minutes away and we are very accessible to numerous highway systems (I-95 N/S, Rt. 101 E/W, Rt. 33, I-495)
