Originally built by the town's sheriff, Van Houten, for his beloved wife as a way to convince her to permanently stay in Ouray, the home is now available to the public for the first time as a luxurious vacation rental. Staying in this home offers a journey back in time. Right across from the Western Hotel and in the center of town, this Victorian gem offers a convenient central location. The home has a spacious kitchen, two dinning areas, comfortable beds, and thoughtful amenities like blackout shades. The large second-story patio is ideal for stargazing, and every window offers captivating views of the surrounding mountains. Stay cozy with a fireplace to warm your evenings. The beautifully landscaped yard features a gas fire pit during summer months, and a large picnic table making it the perfect setting for an exceptional vacation. Free WiFi, plush towels, crisp linens, hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, and toilet paper. Kitchen: Find a fully equipped kitchen complete with GE and Jenn-Air appliances- refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven, grill. Plenty of cookware and dinnerware. There is also a coffee maker, coffee grinder, kettle, blender, and toaster. Spices, salt/pepper and olive oil. Plenty of coffee and tea provided for guests. Entertainment: Smart TV for your viewing pleasure. Kids: Features like a travel crib (pack n play), child's highchair, games, children's dinnerware, and children's books ensure your little ones have a great time. Please request Pack n play and/or highchair at the time of booking so we can make it available during your stay. Laundry: Convenient in-house laundry with a washing machine and a dryer. Iron and ironing board is inside the laundry closet. Parking: Two parking spot on-site as well as plenty of on-street parking in-front of the house.

Our stay at Liza's was wonderful. The home was more beautiful than the pictures. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us. There were to be 7 of us, however, 2 couldn't make it, but there would have been plenty of room for the 7 of us. The location was great to walk to shops, restaurants, etc. Liza was easy to communicate with and was always quick to respond. I would defiantly recommend staying here and we hope to stay there again in the future.
We loved loved loved our stay here! The house was amazing and even better than the pictures in the listing. It's super close to Main Street and extremely walkable to local restaurants and the grocery store. A beautifully renovated, clean house with modern amenities. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need to feel right at home. Liza was super responsive and accommodating. Cannot recommend this place enough, 100% would come back!
Liza’s home perfectly accommodated seven adults and two kids. The house was beautifully renovated, included all kitchen necessities, and was ideally located in the heart of the town. Liza was very responsive and also provided a wonderful town guide. I would recommend this home for family reunions, larger groups, a luxury getaway.
We were some of this first guests at this new listing from Liza. The house is amazing and such a good value, given the lack of upper scale airbnbs in Ouray (outside of Liza’s place). We cannot recommend this place enough: it’s warm, takes you back in time with Victorian finishings (though with all modern necessities), and is one block away from 8th and Main Streets in town. We will 100% be back.
This house was spectacular. All the details. Plenty of space. Great kitchen and dining area. Right in town. Across the street from one of the best restaurants. Great communication with host. Highly recommend.

Hello! I'm Liza. My husband Brandon and I are excited to be your hosts! Brandon grew up right here in Ouray and can offer a unique local perspective to our guests. Ouray is our family's favorite place on earth. There is lots to do here - hiking, jeeping, ice climbing, via ferrata, skiing in Telluride, and soaking in the world-famous hot springs. We feel so blessed to share our knowledge of the area not only with our two boys but also with you, our guests! Whether you are looking for the best restaurant in town or a great day hike or just want to relax in one of the hot springs, we are happy to share our favorite spots with you. We deeply care about our guests' experience so please let us know if we missed anything, we will do our best to address it right away. We live on the other side of the mountains, in Longmont with two wild boys, a puppy, 10 chickens, and bees. Although we try to come to Ouray as often as possible, when we are not there ourselves, our mom Cindy who lives in town handles and supervises cleaning and any last-minute assistance you may need.
