Built in the 1800’s by Barrister John Smith, this historic property is centrally located and only steps away from the lively Main Street of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Cozy shops and restaurants await, along with access to the Samson trail, running along the beautiful East River. This property is also located a short drive from: - Melmerby beach (14min) - Glen Lovate golf course (7min) - Abercrombie country club (7min) - Museum of Industry (8min) - Grocery Store (3min) Dating over 150 years old, Barrister House is a private apartment located over two floors. On the first floor you’ll find the kitchen, laundry and living/dinning area. This space is full of charm with a pleasant selection of books, board games, movies and more. Be sure to curl up by the fire during your stay and feel right at home! On the second floor you’ll find two bedrooms, a bathroom and storage closet. The property sleeps a total of four people. One bedroom has a queen size bed and the other has two single beds.

Sharlane has a great little unique suite, very comfy and clean.
Sharlane was an awesome host! So helpful and very sweet. Great recommendations and very clear with all the details! We had to book another night last minute after check out one day and she was so easy to communicate with / rebook with. Would 10/10 recommend staying with her if you are in the area :)
Really cute cozy spot for a date night or a hang out. Close to all the restaurants, bars and waterfront in town. excellent accomodating host. felt at home.

Barrister House is one of the oldest homes on High Street. This historic street is lined with gorgeous historic houses which frame the towering Kirk Church at the end of the street with its wonderful stain glass windows. The house is also located 700m from the Samson Trail, the sight of Canadas first iron rail railroad, now turned walking trail. The New Glasgow downtown is just a stroll down the street and has great options for shopping and food/drink. Want some more history of the area? Check out the Carmichael-Stewart House Museum! Or perhaps you'd rather some outdoor activity? Melmerby Beach is only a short drive away and features beautiful sandbars and distant views of Prince Edward Island!
Parking is available at the property and the area is very walkable but if you'd prefer to drive there is ample parking in the downtown, at grocery stores and really anywhere you travel in the area!

I was born and raised in New Glasgow Nova Scotia but in recent years have lived in both Toronto, Ontario and Milan, Italy. I run everyday (current run streak going on 5 years) and have run nearly every square inch of my hometown of New Glasgow. I recently returned home to renovated Barrister House with the hope to live there in the future when I move back, in the meantime it is a place for others to enjoy and make happy memories!
