Situated a stone’s throw from the Yarra River and surrounded by beautiful natural landscape, this modern home provides the perfect base to explore Warburton and surrounds. Cook up a storm in the country style kitchen, find a secret spot in the rambling garden to read a book, enjoy a local wine on the sun drenched deck whilst letting the kids hideout in the cubby house. Misty Mountain Retreat is perfectly set up for a rejuvenating country escape, whilst providing all of the essentials to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable and memorable. The house is located on a fertile block and you will be able to appreciate the abundant garden from every room in the house. A favourite spot is the open plan country style kitchen from where glorious mountain views can be enjoyed. The kitchen is charming yet modern, with integrated dishwasher, fridge, new oven and stovetop, and a large wooden table to share meals and play board games. The wood heater in the adjacent lounge room adds that extra level of cosiness and warmth during the famous Warburton winters. You can while away hours reading the paper, sipping coffee or a drop of your favourite Pinot on the expansive deck, complete with electric retractable awning for sunny days. It’s common for kookaburras, cockatoos and parrots to make their presence known as they also seem to love this spot! Both the main bathroom and the ensuite to the main bedroom have a toilet, large shower and deep hot tub (perfect for muscle recovery after a long hike or bike ride!) for those wanting to explore Warburton by bike there is also a secure shed where you are welcome to store your bikes. Young families will enjoy letting the kids run free on the property, close the gate and they can explore the cubby house with a perfect lookout to the street, countless spots for hide and seek, and many games and books in the second living room with TV/play area. The two queen bedrooms and two kids rooms (each with one bunk bed) have high quality mattresses and cotton bedding so everyone can benefit from a good nights sleep!

Good place for a weekend in the hills
We had such a lovely stay here. The two living rooms and 4 bedrooms meant it was the perfect size to host our 2 young families and Tess’s local recommendations came in handy- especially Silva coffee and The Alpine Hotel! Thanks for having us to stay!
We stayed with a group of friends for a wedding and it was fantastic. The house is beautiful and very private. Everything you need is provided. Would highly recommend.

Misty Mountain Retreat sits nestled into the hillside with views of the magnificent adjacent native landscape and just a stones throw away from the Yarra River's clear mountain fresh flowing waters. It's a truly idyllic and relaxing place to be. The private and quiet surroundings provide the perfect setting for a BBQ and drinks with family and friends.
With plenty of beautiful walking/cycling trails and river activities to choose from, there's always something to do. For those looking for a physical challenge, there are existing mountain bike trails with new world-class trails currently being developed.
Warburton itself is an attractive town on the river, lying in a valley between heavily forested mountains, east of Lilydale and on the road to Mount Donna Buang.
The town's main centre is situated along the Warburton Highway and adjacent to the Yarra River. It caters well for visitors and tourists with a multitude of cafes and other eateries, many housed in buildings which date back to Warburton's early beginnings as a mountain escape for Melburnians in the early 1900s.
The stunning Yarra River Walk is an almost 3 kilometre long pathway along the river through the town centre and past river crossings including the iconic swingbridge in Story Reserve.
The picturesque La La Falls are located off Old Warburton Road, south of the town centre. Access is via a 1½ kilometre long track which follows the course of Four Mile Creek through the Yarra State Forest.
Under 20 minutes drive from Warburton is Mount Donna Buang. Rising to a height of 1,245 metres, it is the closest snow field to Melbourne. Attractions at the summit include BBQs, walking tracks, toboggan runs, and a 21 metre tall lookout tower.
At Cement Creek, around 10 kilometres from the summit of Mount Donna Buang, is the Rainforest Gallery which consists of a series of steps down to the lush forest floor. The Mount Donna Buang Skywalk is also accessed from there, offering a 40 metre long elevated walkway through the tree tops.
