South Island Serenity Ohana allows you to enjoy all that South Hawaii Island has to offer, without the congestion, heat and ridiculous prices in Kona. Instead of staying 2 hours from everything on the island, consider our 400 Sqft newly constructed Ohana as a base for all your adventures. You'll be located in the middle of the island, within range of South Point, Na’alehu, South Kona and Volcanos National Park in addition to unique Hawaiian beaches: pebble, black sand and green sand beach. Stillness and Serenity are the words used to describe the 400 sqft Ohana that awaits you. A brand new Ohana, built in September 2023. The kitchen boasts new quartz counters and custom ordered cabinets. A microwave and induction stovetop are for cooking along with plenty of cookware and utensils. There is a coffee nook with a coffee maker and a french press (if you're staying on Hawaii island you'll want to find and try coffee from all 6 different growing regions). The queen size bed is a Nectar memory foam; there is a decent size closet for storing and hanging items. Living space includes a table for two, and a small sofa with coffee table to sit at and gaze at South Point (the southern most point in the USA) while you sip your morning java. Oversized bathroom offers a bidet, upflush toilet, full size standup shower unit and a bamboo stool to sit. Wifi is available and is very fast for if you plan to work (trying not to be distracted while staring at the ocean.) There is a 50" Smart TV in the Ohana that can swing to be used sitting on the couch or while in bed. NEW for 2024! We recently added laundry access for Ohana guests...a small laundry room is located just a few feet from the Ohana, outside, just behind the main house. Also NEW for 2024: we've just upgraded our sofa to a La-z-boy leather sofa with a full-size sleeper pullout bed. Super comfy and allows 2 people traveling to sleep in separate beds. I'll also allow 1 additional guest (total of 3) if your plans require that, but PLEASE review the space and confirm this is what you want. It's a small studio...3 people might be a crowd? Also Also New for 2024- the outdoor shower is finished and available for use by guests. Just follow the sidewalk along the back of the main house to the bamboo shower garden area. We recently had the pleasure of staying at this newly built Ohana near the South Point of Big Island Hawaii. The location was far from the airport, which was exactly what we were looking for to escape the hustle and bustle of the mainland. We didn’t want to stay near Kona, so glad we found this place. The house offered breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and huge expansive ocean views…which provided us access to some remote beaches via exciting hikes. From the moment we arrived we were captivated by the serenity that surrounded us. The remote location allowed us to unwind and the Ohana itself was comfortable and well-equipped, they had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay (well stocked kitchen, beach chairs and snorkel gear, comfy bed, towels etc.) which allowed us to reconnect with each other. The hosts were super responsive and helped us with suggestions about the local area, Oh, and Miranda’s Coffee shop, you gotta stop there…wow such great coffee & food!
Overall, the stay was excellent. The place was very clean and Andrew had everything that you could possibly need (extra speaker, charging cord, extra snacks, snorkel gear). Everything that we forgot to pack, we were able to find. Check-in was easy because a YouTube video was sent describing how to use the lock box and giving a quick tour of the place. The only minor critiques and things to be aware of are the area is very isolated. It takes about a 30 minute drive to get to the nearest beaches. There aren’t very many restaurants and shops around, so you’ll need to pack groceries to make food at the Air BnB. But, if you want a peaceful, isolated getaway with great views on clear days, it’s perfect. That being said, overall we were very happy with the stay and would book it again if we are ever back in town. Highly recommend it!
Host is proactive to help us to check-in and check-out. Also responsive to our questions / messages. We can tell the host put lots of thoughts of preparing the place for the need as a tourist. All the kitchen stuff and other things available in the place are making our stay extra comfort and convenient. Recommendation and tips to places / restaurants / coffee places are helpful. Clear printed label of instructions in picture frames are making them as friendly reminders to follow and as deco instead of just rules to follow. We can tell the host really putting their thoughts of designing and creating a nice warm place from the tourist / user perspective. It really makes us feel like home. Highly recommended for someone travelling to the Big Island and specially planning to visit the Kona coffee belt area, green sand beach/southern most USA, and the Hawaii Volcano National Park area.

The neighborhood is on agricultural land, and is somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. There are no street lights, and the roads can be bumpy (it's located on a volcano).
Situated at 3600' elevation (in the clouds), in the largest subdivision in the world on the slopes of the largest Volcano (Mauna Loa) in the world!
Located 1.25 hours from Kona and 1.75 hours from Hilo Hawaii.
There are no sidewalks or streetlights, and given the elevation it is not recommended to stray too far from the home on foot.
Ocean View center is located down at the main highway (5-10 minute drive) in the center of the subdivision, there are 3 grocery stores, 3 gas stations, Ace hardware, a Chiropractor, auto parts store, a pizza shop, Hawaiian bbq, and even a coffee shop that serves food until 7pm every day of the week.
20 minutes down the street is the beautiful town of Na'alehu (Southernmost town in the US) which has additional coffee shops, restaurants and stores.
There’s plenty to enjoy locally!
