Welcome to Buffalo Lodge, a newly built sanctuary offering spacious accommodations. Situated on a private lot next to our Bear Lodge, it provides a tranquil retreat right on Lake Huron's shores. The spacious Buffalo Lodge is designed for comfort and relaxation. Its expansive, sunny deck is a highlight, perfect for soaking in the stunning views. The place is a paradise, brand new beautiful build. Off the beaten path, but that’s one of its charms. Shannon (who we dealt with most) was super responsive and friendly. The beach had beautiful sand, was pretty shallow for a while, and the waves were like Sauble beach. It was a good deal for a long weekend. Lots of room for the seven of us and we all had an amazing time. If we lived closer, we would definitely stay there again.

Our lodge is located in an untouched natural paradise. The lake provides incredibly clean and fresh water, and the sandy dunes heat up on a hot day, providing warmth for long summer nights. The beach and the very shallow waterfront are perfect for kids and families.
Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island on the planet, hosts over 100 lakes and plenty of very nice locations with great views. Don't miss the Benjamin Islands and other local attractions.
Explore the great outdoors with hiking trails, boating on the lake, watersports, and fishing opportunities. Two golf courses are just a short drive away.
If you like to fish or hunt: ask Tim - he has lived here for many years and is happy to provide you with any advice needed.
ON THE ISLAND:
Water temperature in Dominion Bay differs a lot depending on the current, wind and weather in general. Lake Dominion Bay Temperature in summer is between 59°F(15°C) and 75°F(24°C) - but as the bay is flat it heats up very quickly. West or South wind is usually good but results in more wind during the day. East winds can be seen as a bad weather forecast in most cases.
But even bad weather is no big issue - there is plenty of space in the house and you can enjoy the rough lake like in a movie - sitting nice and cozy inside. We can promise you good sleep like a baby.
Lake Kagawong is the closest lake for swimming, relaxing and water sports - turn left in Spring bay and you are there - the boat launch is signaled and can't be missed.
Lake Mindemoya is a great option too. It has two boat launches - one is closer but a bit hidden, please ask your host if you want to venture there.
Providence Bay is home to a nice beach and plenty of shops - you will also find some good places to lunch / dinner around the bay and Mindemoya.
Gore Bay is all in the north and the gate to the North Channel with an airport and a large harbour.
Little Current is a nice village with a golf club. It also has a nice old town and you can watch the ships passing the turning bridge. Further, it offers tours to the Benjamin Islands.

Sudbury is the next available commercial air company airport. You find there all you need.
A car is necessary for getting around. Spring Bay, with its friendly little shop, gas station, and liquor store, is just 10 minutes away. Gore Bay and Mindemoya, with their shopping and dining options, are 25 minutes away.
