Outside there is off-road parking for two cars and an enclosed courtyard with decking and furniture. 33 Mill Lane is the perfect base for a holiday to the Peak District and surrounding Derbyshire countryside.
Halfways is a really lovely, cosy cottage. Vannessa, the host, had provided welcome treats, there were provisions for humans and dogs, with helpful touches such as dog treats and towels for muddy paws. Easy to access, friendly communication and great decorations for our pre-christmas getaway. Belper is a great town with great dog walks. May well return one day, assuming teenage boys don't grow too quickly as we'll need more room.
Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site is Belper, a thriving market town steeped in history dating back to the 13th century when it was formally known as Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat). The area still reflects its prior name due to its pretty countryside surroundings and marvellous architecture including the North Mill, as well as other attractions such as Long Row and the River Gardens. The town plays host to local music festivals and boasts a lively arts scene during May for the annual Arts festival, as well as hosting winter and summer food festivals and a monthly farmers market.
