The Parkview Suite at Parkside Retreat—a quiet, peaceful retreat just 3 miles from the bay and 5 miles from the oceanfront, without all the beach noise! Five minutes from I-264 in NE Virginia Beach. Huge back yard adjacent to park. We are very much like a classic bed and breakfast, just without the breakfast. We have three separate guest rooms available here at Parkside Retreat—see "Laura's Listings" in my profile to pick your favorite! With a charming beach vibe, this upstairs suite has both a King bed and separate XLTwin, with a full-and-a-half en suite bath. One of three guest rooms available in our home—other available spaces include the Sandalwood Suite (an upstairs Queen master suite with en suite private bath) and the Victorian Room (an upstairs Queen room with additional Full bed and private hall bath). There is also a cozy Library Room with a King Purple mattress—which can be added to any booking, to share your private bath with you—for an additional donation.

We’re moving to the Virginia Beach area, and this was an excellent place to base ourselves out of during house-hunting. Happily recommend this to anyone passing through the Hampton Roads area for any reason! Laura and family were extremely friendly and hospitable, loved the room as well!

Laura’s place was so inviting, clean, peaceful and homey. My daughter and were in town for a high school tournament and great location; less than 15 min to the Virginia Beach Sport Center and beach area. She is a wonderful host and cared about our comfort. Lots of thoughtful touches, comfortable bedding and great amenities for any traveler. I highly recommend Laura’s place, you’ll feel right at home!

We are located in a quiet, established neighborhood in NE Virginia Beach, just five miles from the oceanfront. The Virginia Beach Boardwalk is a short, 10-minute drive away! There are lots of great local and chain restaurants very close. Local shopping is within 5 minutes at Hilltop, and two large shopping malls (Lynnhaven Mall and Pembroke Mall) are each within 10-15 minutes. "The Historic Triangle" (Jamestown, Yorktown, and Colonial Williamsburg) and Busch Gardens (voted "World's Most Beautiful Theme Park" by the National Amusement Park Historical Association every year since 1990) are all within an hour's drive.
If they don't have a car and need to get around, most of our guests are opting to use Uber. If you do bring your car, we have a large driveway with angled parking along both sides, providing one off-street parking space for your use during your stay. You will pull up as far as you can without driving off into the grass. This way six cars can easily pull in and back out past each other. If you have a large, oversized vehicle, there is ample street parking along the street in front of our home.

Hello! We have been hosting folks in our home for many years, and we are happy to provide a clean, comfortable, affordable spot for you during your stay in Virginia Beach. Retired from 30 years in the teaching profession—in public, private, and home schools, all three—I now work from home as an Airbnb host, an editor, and a certified Pilates teacher. All four of our children are now grown, and we have five wonderful grandchildren. Welcome!
