Explore the 40 acres of wonderful, shared grounds; watch the children on the play equipment and ask about taking a rowing boat out onto the lake. Find laundry facilities on site. Walk into Hawkshead to visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery, see the grammar school that poet William Wordsworth attended, and eat out in a pub. Drive 6 miles to Ambleside to explore a broader selection of colourful shops or to choose between eateries. While you are here, catch a carriage or walk 0.5 miles to Waterhead to take a cruise out on Lake Windermere.
