Set in an elevated position in the heart of the Lake District, this 17th-century characterful barn sleeps four guests. It’s perfect for a family or two couples who want to explore everything the area has to offer, such as Lake Windermere and Scafell Pike. Situated on the ground floor, you will enter this comfortable accommodation through the porch where you can leave your coats and boots. Fire up the wood burner and enjoy a cosy evening in, watching films, playing games or planning the rest of the trip ahead. A well-equipped kitchen, practical utility room, and dining area have plenty of amenities for cooking, cleaning and eating together. Choose from one of two bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, and the other across the hall from a family bathroom. Outside is a spacious south-facing garden with a patio and lawn. Take a seat, dine alfresco and enjoy the far-reaching views across the valley. 1.5 miles away is the village of Outgate, which has a shop and pub/restaurant. Head further afield to Ambleside (4.5 miles), a bustling tourist town with loads to explore right on the tip of Lake Windermere. From here, take a cruise along the lake which offers a hop-on, hop-off service stopping at Brockhole, Bowness and Lakeside Pier. Try out stand up paddleboarding, kayaking or rowing on Windermere or Coniston Water (4 miles) in the shadow of the surrounding mountains. Visit World of Beatrix Potter (9.5 miles) and find out more about the children’s author, or discover some history at the National Trust’s Wray Castle (3 miles), a magnificent Victorian neo-gothic building.
