This house has been newly renovated throughout in 2022 and is surrounded by hundreds of acres of National Trust land on Blackdown, yet close to all the amenities of Haslemere. With five bedrooms, four bathrooms, three large reception rooms plus beautiful Mark Wilkinson kitchen the house offers comfort for a large family. Outside there are many terraces to enjoy views over the garden with far reaching views beyond to the South Downs - especially from the cedar clad hot tub. A wonderful family home, Blackdown Border dates back to 1937. The property is beautifully configured and fits perfectly the needs of the modern family with well-proportioned accommodation over two floors. The Property is accessed via a formal entrance hallway which then leads to the principle reception rooms. The hall leads through an open archway to the formal dining room that can seat up to 10 with double doors opening to far reaching views over the garden and beyond. The drawing room is of an excellent size and features a log burning stove making it a wonderfully cosy place to be in winter. In summer it has a light and airy feel with its large triple aspect windows. The real heart of the home is the family kitchen with a bespoke design by Mark Willkinson, affording an excellent focus to the house. From here leads to the family sitting room, via the large Utility Room (with space for two large dogs). The family sitting room is a wonderful entertaining space for more informal family moments or for use as a playroom for younger families. It has a large wood burning stove making it warm and cosy for those movie nights in. The spare twin bedroom leads off the family room with its ensuite bathroom. Upstairs are four good sized double bedroom with two ensuites and a separate family shower room. Blackdown Border is approached by two sets of electric gates onto a gravel driveway parking for numerous cars. Outside there are four sun terraces all facing south west which offer different areas from quiet reflections around a water feature to the large family terrace with hot tub, outdoor sofas, fire pit and BBQ. There is a terrace directly outside the kitchen door with a table and chairs for up to 10. Outside the dining room is a small terrace for sundowners. The terraces are raised above the flat croquet lawn with an abundance of surrounding shrubs and flowers, accessed by two sets of steps that wind down through planted terraces. The town is a few minutes drive into Haslemere town which offers a fast service for commuters to London and excellent shopping facilities for day-to-day needs and a choice of restaurant pubs and coffee shops, along with a Tennis Club and Haslemere Leisure Centre. Sporting facilities include golf at Hankley Common, West Surrey, Liphook and Chiddingfold, Racing at Goodwood, Polo at Cowdrey Park, and Sailing on Frensham Ponds and off the South coast at Chichester. Blackdown Border also has the benefit of offering direct access to a footpath leading directly from the garden on to Blackdown, an area of 965 acres of ancient heathland and woodland owned by the National Trust, which provides excellent walks and rides as well as sensational views over Surrey and West-Sussex, which inspired much of Tennyson's poetry.
A wonderful stay in a lovely house in a beautiful setting! Everything was exactly as described and our host responded to all our questions promptly. The property was spotlessly clean and there were a few welcoming touches such as a fresh flowers and a loaf of wholemeal bread waiting for us. The views from the property are stunning and when the sun came out we enjoyed several outdoor seating areas overlooking the pristine garden. We hired the property for a week to celebrate a 93rd birthday and the home was perfect for 3 generations of family members who gathered or dropped in at different times during the week. It was lovely to be able to walk out of the property straight into the most beautiful peaceful countryside with birds, deer and other wildlife add to the excitement. We would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a beautiful home hidden away in the Surrey countryside. A big thank you to our Host!
We had a great stay at Louise’s home over the Christmas period. The house is really homely and comfortable and lots of space. The surrounding area is beautiful with lovely walks straight from the house. Louise was really helpful and informative and quick to respond to any queries or questions. Thoroughly recommended!
We had a brilliant time in Louise’s beautiful home. The house is comfortable and we’ll set up so it was very easy to feel at home. The house is excellently equipped and we had everything we needed. The garden is lovely and set up to be used comfortably in multiple ways. It was a lovely place to spend time in and the views are really exceptional! The beds were all comfy and bedrooms were all nicely presented. The downstairs bedroom was excellent for my elderly Grandma. The house is an excellent place to spend time relaxing in all weathers. It rained a couple of day during our stay but the multiple living spaces downstairs meant we could all enjoy relaxing without being on top of one and other. Louise was very communicative and very helpful. Checking in and out was easy and she was flexible with timings. We had a lovely stay and would recommend!
We adjoin hundreds of acres of National Trust land with many footpaths (one accessed directly from the bottom of our garden and another a few steps past our neighbours house on the road). We are also only 3 minutes drive down the hill to the wonderful market town of Haslemere and its shops, pubs and restaurants
we have ample parking for many cars in our driveway. We tend to drive to Haslemere but it is walkable in 15/20 mins but maybe a little more up the hill on the way back
