Two skylight windows for star gazing should you wish, fitted with blackout blinds for a good night’s sleep. Bathroom - beautiful spacious room fitted with a generously sized walk-in shower, WC, basin and mirror, shaver socket, bespoke cupboard made from reclaimed wood, old characterful floorboards, and a low window offering views across the hills to the side of the barn. Outside space - at the front of the barn is a parking space with EV charging point to be paid for by the guest, there is also a pretty fenced off patio area with bistro set for alfresco dining or just sipping a hot drink, or maybe glass of wine, while soaking up the peaceful and stunning surroundings. There is a large fenced and walled garden with further seating to the front and side of the barn, with access from the small patio via some fairly steep stone steps, or avoiding the steps (for elderly dogs perhaps) via a gate on level ground. A maximum of two well behaved dogs are welcome. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture or upstairs - a stairgate is provided at the bottom of the stairs. Please keep dogs on a lead when on our property, unless in the fenced off garden for the barn. It is not uncommon to have sheep wandering up our drive and I would hate for one to be chased or attacked by an over excited dog. Washing Machine available by arrangement.
Fantastic stay in this wonderful cosy home. Very quiet with amazing views & walking. Ideal getaway if you’re looking for quiet location. Hope to be back.
A very well thought out and furnished property. Perfect for two people wanting to escape for some peace and quiet.
A very peaceful, relaxing and quiet stay! As it is at the end of the track there is no passing traffic to disturb your stay, and the curtains and blinds do an excellent job of keeping out the light for those wanting a deep slumber! Or gaze out the skylights or doorway at the dark night sky! Highly recommended, the barn was spotlessly clean, well stocked with everything you might need and then some! We are always a fan of anything with a wood burner, and was lovely to curl up on an evening in front of the fire Despite being relatively nearby the Littondale valley is a new area for us and will certainly return to explore more! Thanks again to Cathy for putting so much care and attention into the barn and opening it up for people to stay.
We absolutely loved this place and plan to book again. Very clean, stylish and well designed. The fully enclosed garden was a huge plus for us. Fabulous walks straight from the door and waking up to the sound of sheep and birdsong - perfect.
Foxup is a hamlet in the Yorkshire Dales, in the little known and therefore very peaceful Littondale, North Yorkshire.
The village marks the end of the main road through Littondale, and Foxup House Farm and Foxup House Barn are situated close to the end in an idyllic spot totally surrounded by the Dales, with only the sound of sheep, birds and an occasional tractor/quad bike to be heard. It is a place to totally immerse yourself in the Dales, unwind from the stresses of everyday life, recharge, walk, cycle, and explore. There are footpaths from the door in every direction, perfect for walkers as well as dogs, hilly walks or reasonably flat riverside walks, and Pen y Ghent (one of the three Yorkshire peaks) can also be reached on foot if you fancy a longer hike.
Foxup is located 9 miles north of Settle (20-25 minutes drive depending on how many sheep you meet), through some of the best hilly scenery in the Dales; 17 miles from Skipton (35-40 minutes drive through quiet lanes flanked by typical Dales countryside); 13 miles from Grassington (30 minutes drive); 13 miles from Malham (30 minutes); 28 miles from Hawes (55 minutes drive); 36 miles from Harrogate (1 hour 5 minutes); 40 miles from Kendal and the joys of the Lake District (1 hour 10 minutes).
Please note we are very rural and the nearest shop is either Settle (20-25 minutes drive) or Threshfield (25 minutes drive).
Nearest pub - The Queen’s Arms Litton, 3 miles away, under 10 mins drive or a very pleasant 1 hour walk (at a brisk pace) along riverside and grassy footpaths. Excellent food with award winning pies but you need to book, they also have their own brewery behind the pub - The Lamb Brewing Company, large beer garden with gorgeous views. Dog friendly in the bar area. Closed on a Monday.
Next nearest pub - The Falcon Inn Arncliffe, another 2 miles on from Litton, 5 miles from Foxup, 15 minutes drive or approximately a 2 hour walk. This pub was used as the original location for The Woolpack in the TV series Emmerdale Farm. Also serves good food and is open daily.
Nearest takeaway - Settle: Indian, Chinese, an excellent Thai restaurant (Darlings) that also does takeaway, and fish and chips.
自我介绍
My husband Phil and I moved to Foxup, North Yorkshire, in January 2020 and have totally fallen in love with Littondale. This is a very friendly place to live, our only regret is not moving sooner. We have two adult daughters who live on the south coast and currently have one rescue dog Mortimer.
