This little gem started out life as an old coal shed, but now offers guests a lovely retreat in the middle of the 200 years old Historic fishing village Footdee, with its bottlenose dolphins and 2 minute walk to beach promenade . Fittie is a unique, conservation area steeped in history. Ideal for romantic stay, dolphin watching or for the more energetic there is surfing , golf, paddleboarding , wild swimming and all the beachfront has to offer. The Shed is cosy, unique, quirky . It is situated in the lovely historic area of Aberdeen called Footdee (or Fitttie to the locals)You will be a 2 minute walk from the beach and Aberdeen harbour , with its pod of dolphins that regularly come to visit .The Sheds setting really is unique and very tranquil, yet is only a 20 minute walk from all Aberdeen City has to offer. In The Shed itself , the lounge area has a large smart tv with integrated cd player and over 100 cds to pick from . There is also free fast wi fi . The Shed has no oven or hob , but there is a toaster, microwave, and full size fridge with ice box.With all the the varied food traders and restaurants a 2 minute walk all along The beach promenade., many of our guests choose to eat out . You are provided with welcome pack of various teas, coffee pods, milk, orange juice, bread, jam, butter, breakfast cereals, fresh fruit and yogurt for your arrival . The shower room has a rainfall and power jet Groghe shower and Scottish toiletries for your use . The bedroom is spacious and has a comfy super king bed with fresh white bed linen, cosy tartan blanket and ample hanging storage and drawers .We even put in lovely fresh flowers for your stay and of course we wouldnt be proper Scottish hosts if we werent to provide you with a wee dram of whisky and recipe for a lovely whisky toddy nightcap . There is also an iron , ironing board, hairdryer and hair straighteners . The bedroom also has a smart tv with integrated cd player. Ian’s place is really great. He is a gracious host and the neighborhood is really fun to see. He left really nice treats and breakfast. He has thought of everything! It’s a bit out of town which is fine if you have a car. We decided to walk to town one day and it was tricky to get a taxi back.
We couldn’t recommend Ian or his little Fittie coal shed more! Ian was wonderful from the get go; he responded to my interest in recommendations for places to see, with enthusiasm! His place is wonderfully cozy and welcoming. And we have never been presented with so many basic AND unexpected treats!! The hot toddy and its instructions were just perfect… reminded me of what my father fixed us when we were kids (if we were coming down with a cold) :) It was also really wonderful to have extras, enough for our meal, after a late arrival. It saved us having to go out again. We slept well and enjoyed the space so much! Ian was on top of it, when asked questions. One of the best hosts we’ve ever had!! Highly recommend for anyone (except for someone who can’t/shouldn’t use stairs).
We loved the Coalshed. The location was perfect and very peaceful. I swam off the beach in the mornings and we watched dolphins in the afternoons. The fruit and flowers were lovely extra touches, as were the quality selection of cheese and breakfast cereals. Thankyou Ian!

The Old Coal Shed is in the historic fishing village of Footdee, Aberdeen and only a 50 metre walk from the beach and harbour, where you can watch the dolphins, seals and boats coming and going from the harbour .
There is surfing, paddleboarding, ten pin bowling, amusements, cinema, supermarket and shops all just 5 minutes walk away. Take a brisk walk along the beach or just sit and watch the sea with your morning coffee. The shed is also a great location if you fancy visiting Donald Trump world famous golf course, or one of the may other golf courses, of which the nearest is 10 minute walk away . It is a quiet and peaceful village , yet only 5 minutes walk to the cafes and restaurants of the beachfront , and 15 minutes to Aberdeen city centre.
The shed is situated in South Square , which is one of 3 squares , of old fishing cottages and sheds and with its own church.
Footdee is one of the most popular tourist areas in Aberdeen . There is ample free parking 10 metres from The Shed door.
You can walk to the beach or harbour which are both just 50 metres away .Beachfront cafes, cinema and fairground etc are a 5 minute walk and city centre is a 15 minute walk.
There is a local bus service to Aberdeen City Centre
Aberdeen airport is a 20 minute drive , or airport bus to city centre .
Aberdeen train station is 2 miles from The Shed
Parking is free and is 20 Mtrs from The shed door
