Bright, clean room at 1 minute from Marutamachi subway station (not JR! one way fare to Kyoto station 260 yen). The room was actually larger than on the picture. The bed was 140cm wide. Tea, little fridge, hairdryer, microwave, water cooker are provided in the room, as were 2 towels pp and slippers. The hostel is not for socializing though: we never met anyone, there is not really a lounge area, and it's self check-in and -out. You will receive a very detailed manual through airbnb a few days before arrival. Although it is all a bit impersonal, for us it was perfect and we had an enjoyable stay in Kyoto. Neighbourhood is not very interesting. You need to take a bus or subway to reach main tourist spots. Good sushi, ramen, coffee nearby, as are a mcdo and family mart. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a simple but comfortable accommodation with excellent value for money.

This Airbnb is pretty well located and two steps from a main subway line. It is not in the main area which is good because it’s crazy in the main area. Instead is right next to the palace… which is clearly a good area and it’s calm. You can get to both train station and main tourist area in 10-15 minutes taking just one subway. However it is a small space, which is pretty clear in the description just be sure to know what you’re getting into.

We just stayed for one night and for that it was perfectly fine. For a longer stay we would have chosen something more cozy.
