The Sunset Lodge is a spacious lodge for a gathering of family or friends. It has many bedrooms with many different sized beds, so it was perfect for our group of four adults and five children. You truly cannot beat the beautiful scenery at Rivers Bend Retreat. The forest, meadow, river, garden, and lodges/cabins are all beautiful. Anderson Valley in the fall is just lovely. The only thing that guests need to be aware of is that this lodge does not have a full kitchen. We were well aware of that, and pre-cooked soup, hard boiled eggs etc. With that prep, we were able to heat things up and/or have a minimally cooked breakfast, which worked perfectly for our large group. There is a sink, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, and coffee pot as well as two mini fridges. Thank you, Laurie, and the other hosts, for making our stay easy and wonderful.

Wonderful place to connect with nature. Kitchen area was well appointed with an effective hot plate and everything we needed. We stayed there with two families--four kids and four adults--and felt like there was plenty of space. Short walk to the river to swim and play in the water. took a nice 1 hour hike with the kids to an old growth redwood forest at Hendy State Park. So peaceful, we felt a real connection to nature there.

Amazing location for a weekend get away with friends. We enjoyed hiking in Hendy Woods, swimming in the river, and hanging out by the camp fire. The house had plenty of rooms and beds for everyone to spread out. Can’t wait to come back!

The sunset lodge where we stayed provided the lodging that we need. The only improvement that I would recommend is the provision of wifi in the lodge, a big refrigerator since the sunset lodge accommodates 12 people and we are 11 and a bigger kitchen to match what the lodge can accommodate. Other than that, the place is perfect for a family weekend getaway. The walk to the river was short and the garden and the surroundings were very beautiful. All of the staff we met were friendly, helpful and accommodating! The place is also very near the Hendy Wood State Park.
