Brian welcomed us to his beautiful 500 acre working farm. It was an amazing experience. We spent 9 nights at Rathe House and it was not enough! Everything about our stay was magical. If we were out for an evening, when we returned there was a fire burning in the courtyard to welcome us. It was incredible to watch Brian work with his herding dogs as he moved his sheep. Let's not forget about Bobbin, the courtyard terrier who took to us like she was our own. The horses were beautiful and well behaved. The mud hut is so cool, definitely not something you will see anywhere else. I spent time with Brian "checking the sheep" on horseback, it was a dream come true. Brian also taught us to skeet shoot. It was a blast! Brian is a true gentleman and a gracious host. I can not wait to return. The views are spectacular. If you are an artist, a photographer, a horse lover or a person looking to appreciate the beauty of the Irish countryside then this traditional, rustic farm retreat is for you.

What an incredible place to stay! If you appreciate all things old and enjoy history you will love this place! It is exactly as pictured, a stunning 17th century property lots to do and lots to explore if your up for it! I’d highly recommend this place if your an outdoors person who understands its authenticity and uniqueness as far as Airbnb’s go.. I’d pick this place for the experience over a modern Airbnb any day. Brian was a 10/10 host (we miss him already). He was friendly, accomodating, considerate and proactive with the kids who went horse riding, learnt archery, helped round up sheep and looked after the dogs. Brian lit a fire every night for us and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the mud-hut with some Irish folk tunes in the background and listening to Brian’s tales about the property and life in Ireland. Our only regret is not being able to stay longer as this was our most memorable experience while in Ireland!

Brian’s place is rustic, but very charming and has everything you need. Brian is a fantastic host - and I’m sad we missed the firepit in the evenings due to our jet lag.

TL;DR: Wir sind nach unserer Ankunft gleich wieder abgereist, weil der Zustand der Wohnung für uns nicht annehmbar war. Brian ist ein ausgesprochen liebenswerter Mensch, der uns ein herzliches Willkommen bereitet hat. Wir haben uns sehr auf die angebotenen Aktivitäten auf Brians Gelände (von dem wir leider nicht viel gesehen haben) gefreut. Leider war die Wohnung selber für uns nicht erträglich. Die Küche war sehr schmutzig, wir hätten im Dreck vieler Vormieter kochen müssen. Der Herdanschluss liegt offen erreichbar (wir reisen mit einem vierjährigen). Die Duschen waren stark verschmutzt, hier hätten wir nicht barfuß einsteigen wollen. Brian sah in alledem kein Problem. Zudem war es bei unserer Ankunft kalt und zugig. Möglich, dass die Zentralheizung das noch hätte richten können. Wer sich an mangelnder Sauberkeit und Sicherheit nicht stört, verbringt hier bestimmt tolle Tage mit einem fantastischen Menschen. Für uns kam es leider nicht infrage und wir sind umgehend wieder abgereist.

Old farm with lot of animals. Brian was fantastic old gentleman. Always on a good mood and very helpful. Building was very old and historical.
