Set deep in the heart of Brecon Beacons National Park, this traditional stone barn conversion sits in an exceptionally pretty location on the edge of the village of Llangorse. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms, it’s the perfect retreat for families who enjoy exploring the awe-inspiring mountain ranges, winding canals and vibrant market towns of this part of Wales. This beautifully finished barn showcases a clever mix of charming old features and chic, contemporary styling. Step inside and you’ll find a calming open-plan living space. Cook a meal for the gang in the contemporary kitchen and dine together around the traditional farmhouse table, or, if it’s a pleasant evening, head out into the garden and light up the BBQ and sit around the fire pit. There’s ample garden furniture so everyone can dine together in the fresh air. After dinner, gather in the living area and plan your next adventure, and at the end of the day, choose from two of the bedrooms upstairs. Both feature lovely original beams. Wildlife-watchers will adore going for a stroll at Llangorse Lake (1.5 miles), which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Keep your eye out for otters and water voles in the reeds and swifts and Canada geese in the skies. You can also hire a dinghy, canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard and take to the water there. Foodies will adore spending the day in search of new flavours. Start off the Bakers’ Table Cafe in Talgarth Mill (3.5 miles), which was featured on ITV’s Britain’s Best Bakery show. Sample their unbelievable cakes and sign up for a bread-making workshop. The Black Mountains Smokery (11 miles) is also well worth checking out if you’re craving some oak-smoked salmon, trout, duck or cheese. I’ve just returned from a fantastic break at Llangors. Finding the place is easy. Langors itself is a lovely village that has two great pubs within walking distance from the Airbnb. The property is a converted barn that has retained its ‘Old building’ charm whilst having a very comfortable living space, a good sized kitchen, two bedrooms and a modern bathroom with shower and bath. Parking Is easy, right outside the front door. The owners provided a really useful guide listing things to do in the area, places to visit, restaurants, walks etc etc. We loved it, and I think you will too!
