Barry’s place is wonderful. Such a great location, you couldn’t get any closer to the beach. The house is really well equipped, and offers more that most other air bnbs. Barry is extremely helpful and sent me a lot of information on things to do in the area prior to our check in. I’m so happy we found this place, it was an awesome place to spend Christmas.

What a tremendous place to stay! This is certainly a magic spot and for 80% of the time the weather was accommodating and gave us the opportunity to explore this part of the coastline. The diving in the bay itself is on the average side unless you like Kina and there are few fish inshore but the visibility is good and boat fishing pretty phenomenal. The house is immaculate, spacious, warm and includes many things you would not expect from short term accommodation. We were even able to bake to cake! Barry's communication was top notch and they really went the extra mile to make sure we got the most enjoyment out of our trip. Hard to fault a thing. Thanks again- will definitely be back again- hopefully with a boat!!

I was brought up in northland and stayed here when I travelled up with my partner and kids to see family and old friends. Travelling with small children creates reviews of a different kind! And also being a local I know how precious - and sometimes tricky - it is to find a stay in beautiful Tapeka. Barry & Diana’s house: Beautiful space, spacious lounge and surrounding deck and lawn, comfortable well set-up kitchen. Everything was easy to find and we loved that the decor was warm and homely at the same time as minimalist and practical. Charming signage which would be very helpful to any newcomer to the area. The deck is not fenced but it does have stairs, so walkers can manage it- children who are crawlers can be on the grass. Kids can also be supervised easily in the driveway area., which thankfully has an excellent gate with a too-high lock for little reaching hands. The access to the beach can use pram, the steps are carefully prammable. Otherwise, it’s super easy to go around the other way. But we only did that once - the beach is so close it’s easier to walk! COT- we really loved the Montessori-style floor cot, as did both our kids for naps and sleeps, and it redoubled our inspiration to sort that change at home. Also it was great to have a high chair. LAUNDRY ROOM: when travelling with a family, AND to beach environs, just how how amazing to have an excellent amd ready-to-go washing machine on site - Thankyou! I can’t speak Highly enough of my beloved Tapeka, childhood memories to adult ones are there, so I wish all the best to travellers making new ones as part of their journeys! And I highly recommend Barry& Diana’s spot at Du Fresne place from whence to make them. We were comfortable and happy and enjoyed every sunset and morning view. If you’re a relaxer, there’s plenty of comfy chairs, If you’re a walker, you have walks in at least 3 directions, if you’re a beach person, you have a smooth rocks beach for play and a protected sand cove for playing and swimming. My parents had a wonderful stay at Barry’s - the location is superb with great views. Barry’s communication is excellent and we would be very happy to stay here again
