Nine Mile Beach is right in front of your accommodation and you can spend a day walking, cycling or running the 13 km to Sandy Point Bagot. Good swimming, including limitless opportunity for open ocean training at low tide. There are sometimes dolphins and even whales to watch. In the opposite direction, Swansea is walking distance if you can cross the Meredith river at low tide, or 5 minutes by car. Excellent local coffee shops and restaurants including Artifakt, Cake and Honey, Dalila's Patisserie, The Branch, Melshell Oyster Shack and The Waterloo. Short drives will take you to among others Devil's Corner, Craigie Knowe, Spring Vale, Milton's, Kelvedon Estate, Gala Estate, Mayfield Estate, Boomer Creek and Piermont Homestead Restaurant. Always check if anything is open, as some of the East Coast eateries are seasonal. Friendly Beaches and Kelvedon beach are two very beautiful nearby beaches to explore. If you are coming from or heading to Hobart, you can drive via Richmond for charming shops, old buildings, the famous bridge and my favourite cafè, Czegs.

Easiest is to get around by car, but there is a bus service between Hobart and Bicheno and you can get to us from one of the stops if you don’t mind walking. Bicycle hire is available in Swansea.
