The Sea Horse room is a very, very tiny room! This rustic/nothing fancy room located on the 3rd floor of the guest house/hostel. There are 4 shared bathrooms (2nd floor) for 6 rooms. Sorry, no TVs, no heat, & no air cond. The room has a mini frig, fan & sink. NO Parking, since we are next to the beach, overnight street parking in our community is free. Check in time is btw 3pm & 9pm; Check out time is 10am. No Smoking/Vaping; we are a smoke free property. Max occupancy is 1 no exceptions! The Property 2024 Hi, welcome to our old-fashioned classic beachside home 15 steps from the sand! We are Barry & Sherri Tripp and have owned this rustic beach house for over 25 years. We live on the first floor with our friendly and adorable beagle named Dewey. Our home, guest house or some refer to us as private room hostel has a lot of retro and vintage charm. Our rooms are remarkably simple, nothing fancy, rustic and small (no kings, no queens just full-sized or twin beds). Sorry, no TVs, and NO air conditioning and no parking available on-site. There are 6 small rooms, each having its own private lock/door, and 4 common and shared bathrooms across the hall or on the floor below. Each room has a fan, and an old fashion sink from the 1960s. We have a marvelous seaside porch with rocking chairs. We also have an outside foot faucet / shower area to rinse the sand off before entering the houses. We provide linens, shower towels, wash clothes; we do not provide beach towels. The bathrooms have soap and shampoo. Our beach house is within walking distance to restaurants, cafes, public transportation, the pier, palace playland and many other local attractions. Many of our bookings are for 1-3 nights with guests in their 20s and 30s. Please note we do not accommodate lodging for children under the age of 12. Our place is quiet, unique, rustic, and relaxing. We are a smoke/vape free property. The carriage house in the back was converted to 2 simple apartments decades ago and these rustic rentals are also listed with Airbnb. The entire property is fully equipped with a fire safety sprinkler, and we are fully licensed and compliant with the town of Old Orchard Beach/Maine. Since we are located at the beach, we do NOT PROVIDE PARKING. Street parking in our community is always free or you can park in a nearby lot for a nightly fee. During the peak season, you may have to park a block or 2 from the beach, but most times guests find parking on Union, Ocean, Pearl, or West Grand Ave for free. Please note our beach entrance is used by the lifeguards and town employees, so please do not park in those spaces posted -- authorized vehicles only/life guard parking! Airbnb and us, require all guest/travel reservations must be booked by the guest(s) themselves. Indicating rooms cannot be booked by friends, family, or others. In other words, to maintain transparency and trust throughout the Airbnb community, you cannot book on other people’s behalf unless you are staying with them in the room/unit. If you are not the booking partying, we will not provide you with the keys until the booking person arrives! No refunds will be made for those violating these rules by Airbnb. Each room has a key to lock the door and guests will use the back entrance to enter their rooms. If you are a smoker, this is not the place for you, as we do not allow any smoking/vaping outside or inside, or near our property! We do not allow any partying and if you are intoxicated at any time while on the property you will be removed by the authorities and trespassed for jeopardizing the safety of others. There are plenty of hotel’s downtown that accommodate party people. If you have a bike, we suggest you lock it on the bike rack at the beach entrance, or we recommend you to store it in your auto. We do not provide access to a kitchen area, but each room has a small refrigerator and sink. There are several cafés and restaurants in our area. The Water is safe to drink Note there is an outside area for rinsing the sand off yourself and feet before entering the house. Thank you in advance, we do live at the beach and sand does find it ways inside, lol!! The neighborhood We are located in a residential family beach community. Old Orchard Beach, Maine has been welcoming people to its seven-mile stretch of sandy beach for more than 170 years. Our beach has lifeguards, volleyball nets, family fun, cafes & restaurants, music venues, nearby basketball, pickle ball and tennis courts, and great golf courses. We are a short walk to The Pier, which extends 500 feet out over the Atlantic Ocean and a short walk to Palace Playland, a five-acre family amusement park featuring 25+ rides and Maine’s largest arcade. OOB has fireworks mid-June through August every Thursday night shortly after 9:30pm, visible from our beach entrance-Lifeguard Stand #4. The Amtrak Downeaster, is a few blocks away from us, is an intercity passenger train that operates daily rides between 14 communities including Boston, MA. Wells, Old Orchard Beach, Portland, Freeport and Brunswick, ME. There are nearby buses and trolleys, and our area is serviced by Uber and other taxi service providers. Other things to note and Guest House Manual 2024 • The water is safe to drink. • Guest House Bathrooms: Please brush your teeth in your rooms, not in the guest bathrooms. Do not leave personal items (bathing suits, wet suits, shampoo, etc. or your bath towels) in the guest bathrooms. Do your best to not leave sand or seaweed in the shower/tub after use. We clean/sanitize/disinfect the bathrooms multiple times a day. Remember to keep the SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE the TUB/Shower so you do not flood the floor. • Sprinkler System: The property is fully equipped with a fire safety system. Do not hang any items (towels, clothes, etc.) on the pipes or sprinkler heads/equipment. This can cause the pipes to move and may set off an alarm or water flow. You will be held responsible for any damage or false alarm signals. • No Smoking and No Vaping: There is absolutely no smoking/vaping on the front porch, back deck/or any place inside or around the property. OOB promotes a smoke-free beach. HELP KEEP OUR BEACHES and Town clean; do not throw CIGARETTE BUTTS on the street/ground or beach; you must dispose of cigarette butts properly AND SAFELY. • Check out is at 10am; sorry we cannot accommodate late checkouts! o Checking out procedure o Leave the key in the door with the door open so that our crew knows the unit is ready to be cleaned. o We are sorry, but once you have checked out, you will not be able to use the bathrooms after 10am. There are public restrooms on Union Ave., for your convenience. • Fireworks/Lanterns: Old Orchard Beach has strict laws/fines on fireworks/floating lanterns. It is illegal to use any type of fireworks in Old Orchard Beach. Do not take the risk, fines are over $1000. We also do not allow any fireworks to be brought onto our property; strictly enforced. • Noise; please keep noise to a minimum after 9pm; please no music in your rooms, as the house is old and noise travels. No partying on site and no underaged drinking!! • NO candles -- We do not allow any type of burning candles to be used in the rooms/units or on the porches. • Garage: Do not enter the garage. If you have beach chairs and other items, they can be stored in your room or your car. • TRASH: There are trash cans and recycle bins outside by the picnic table.
