Joyce's Cottage lies below the imposing Partry mountains and on the shore of Lough Mask. This is the very best of the west of Ireland. Solitude, peace and breathtaking scenery. Visitors can either swim or boat from their private beach, go for a cycle (bikes available) or simply sit at an outside table and take in the spectacular scenery. Joyce's cottage is one of two adjoining traditional cottages (the other being Derrypark Cottage which is also available for rent). This is one of two adjoining traditional stone cottages with direct access to Lough Mask (there is a sandy beach at your door). It consists of a living room (with wood burning stove), kitchen and two ensuite bedrooms. The cottage is on a private estate and privacy/seclusion is guaranteed. Recently refurbished (WiFi now available). NOTE THE LIMITED NUMBER OF REVIEWS IS DUE TO A CHANGE IN HOST NOT A CHANGE IN THE PROPERTY. AVERAGE REVIEW RATING HAS BEEN 9.8.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Joyce's Cottage! Piero met us upon check-in with a warm welcome and showed us around. Throughout our stay he was quick to respond, ensured that we had what we needed, shared local recommendations and was just generally so friendly. One of the best, if not the best, hosts I've ever experienced! The cottage was exactly what we were looking for, lovely location, unbeatable views, comfortable, all the necessary amenities and very clean. We hope to return in the future!
Arrivée spectaculaire ! Un endroit hors du temps comme nous en avions rarement vu. Maison de pêcheurs charmante et spacieuse dans un environnement iconomique. Piero a été des plus accueillants. Mais il faut vraiment le vivre pour le croire..
This place was so amazing. Feels wild in the wind and rain with mountains and lakes all around. I did a few wild swims and walks right from the door … and visited a little local pub up the hill on Piero’s recommendation. The cottage was so safe and secure during the blustery winds, rain and even hail. I loved it and of course could have stayed longer. Piero was so friendly and helpful and it was nice chatting with him and learning more about the area.
Amazing location and very charming cottage
The view is breathtaking. Beautiful and peaceful place. The host was thoughful and very communicative. We had a great stay. I would highly recommend!

Joyce's cottage is a dream location for those wishing to fish , hike in the surrounding mountains, cycle on the country roads or simply take in the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the spectacular night skies. The nearest village is Tourmakeady which has one shop (selling essential foodstuffs) as well as a bar/restaurant. The village of Clonbur is 16 km away and has a well stocked supermarket, bars and restaurants. Traditional music can be enjoyed most nights in the local "pubs".
Aside from the nearby lakes (Mask , Corrib , Nafooey) a 40 min drive from the cottage brings the visitor to the Atlantic coast with its spectacular sea views and uncrowded beaches. The drive to the coast is itself spectacular. The local restaurants serve locally caught fresh seafood and traditional dishes.

Guests can leave their car at the cottage safe in the knowledge that the only visitor is likely to be a Connemara pony or a stray sheep (see photos!). There are a limited number of bikes available (no charge) for those wishing to explore their surroundings.
