Get away from it all with a stay in this beautiful cottage, a converted farm building with all the creature comforts for a relaxing trip with your nearest and dearest. It's nestled between a national park and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so expect breathtaking scenery and plenty of fresh air. Golf fans will love the picturesque 18-hole course that's beside the house, and there are plenty of cycle and hiking trails to discover close by too. This house welcomes up to four guests and two dogs, so is ideal for a family or small group of friends. The house, which includes original features such as wooden ceiling beams, is reached through a set of charming stone steps. In the modern, well-equipped kitchen, cook up a feast and enjoy a leisurely meal together. Read the morning paper in the lounge, which has large windows on two sides showing off stunning views over the nearby Cheviot Hills. At night, head into the courtyard to study the impressively clear night sky, pointing out constellations to the children – make a wish if you see a shooting star! There are several local walks that start from outside the house. Follow the public footpath to nearby Rothbury (1 mile), explore the independent shops and take an afternoon stroll by the pretty River Coquet. To admire perfectly manicured gardens, magical woodlands and a Victorian stately home, head to Cragside (2 miles), a National Trust property. You'll want to visit Northumberland's award-winning coastline during your stay – drive 21 miles east to Amble to explore this rugged stretch of shore. On the sandy beach, build sandcastles and take part in water sports like surfing and kayaking.
