This characterful holiday home is situated in the centre of Eskdale village, with stunning views of the Eskdale valley, one of the most tranquil parts of the Lake District. The cottage itself is in beautiful order throughout, offering comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people. Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house. The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and fishing. The famous Ravenglass and Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains making the leisurely 7-mile journey down to the sea. - Irton Road station is just five minute walk from the property. There are five pubs in the valley (The Bower House inn just a ten minute walk away), all welcoming children and serving real ales and a wide choice of good food. The village shop is just a five minute walk away and sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers. There is limited reception for mobile phones. Subsidised golf at the stunning Eskdale Golf Course is included in your stay courtesy of the cottage owners between April and October. Please mention Rose Cottage when you book at the golf club to get the discount. The kitchen at this characterful holiday home is large and has a dining area for six. It is lovely and warm with a large electric oven for cooking, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and plenty of storage space. There is a tumble dryer in the outhouse by the kitchen. The sitting room next door is spacious and split into a main area with woodburning stove and a quiet area with an electric stove. There is flat-screen Smart TV which has the full Sky package (sports and films) and DVD player. There are books to read and board games provided. Upstairs there are three bedrooms - two doubles and a twin. There is also a bathroom which has bath and separate shower. The master bedroom has TV with cable channels. The garden outside is magnificent with mature plants and hidden paths and has a patio area overlooking the most wonderful view of the fells.
