Nestled on the Wild Atlantic Way in Donegal, Ireland, The Song House is surrounded by spectacular beaches and mountains, and full of local character and tradition. For 20 years it was an international poetry centre hosting leading lights of Irish poetry such as Seamus Heaney. Recently restored to a high environmental standard, the house is warm and comfortable, with beautiful views across the local countryside, and has a fantastic organic garden with flowers, herbs and fruits. The Song House has the character of an old cottage. It is comfortably appointed with an air-sourced heating system and triple-glazed windows making it warm and cosy even in the Donegal winters. It has spectacular views from all windows. It is close to extensive beaches and mountains and amenities. It is located 1 mile from the town of Falcarragh which has access to public transport. Facilities include: • 4 twin bedrooms. • 1 x 5-bed family room. • Spare bed. • Well-equipped, cosy kitchen/dining room with open fire. • Large workshop room approx. 35 sq metres. The Song House is a centre for residential workshops across a range of activities including: singing, dance, yoga and meditation, permaculture, wildlife and walking holidays. The centre will sleep up to 14 with additional accommodation in local B&Bs within walking distance. The main workshop space is a large, sunny room with superb views of Muckish Mountain. The house has recently been renovated to high environmental standards.

Gorgeous stay at the Song House, it is well set up to accommodate larger groups and provides the perfect jumping off point to explore the stunning surroundings. The house has a beautiful garden (complete with herbs for cooking) with a fire pit and views of Muckish mountain. Candy was a really responsive host and helped us a few additional requests as and when they popped up.

Great sized place for 12-14 people, with a huge bright room and even a ping-pong table! Ideally located with stunning views and near Falcarragh town, the beach, and the mountains. Candy was a great host and made sure we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely stay. House was beautiful, even nicer than the pictures online! Everything was clean, there was lots of space, and a great kitchen and living area to socialise in. Only small issue was there was a bit of mould in the rooms, although I know that is hard to prevent in Ireland over winter!

Lovely, quiet location and had everything we needed. There was a wonderful view of Muckish out the back of the house, best enjoyed by the fire pit! Robin and Candy were excellent hosts, very receptive and helpful!

Teach na nAmhrán: The Song House lies on the world renowned Wild Atlantic Way, one mile from Falcarragh, with local shops and pubs, some serving excellent food. The nearby coast, with expansive wild and empty beaches bordered by sand dunes, stretch for miles and look out onto Tory Island. The seascapes are spectacular in stormy weather, yet gently sloping sandy beaches make these ideal swimming spots in warmer seasons.
The area is rich in recreational activities. There are several popular golf courses, one in Falcarragh itself, a Surf /Water sports school in nearby Dunfanaghy, excellent hill walking, biking and mountain climbing. Cluagh an dTor is an outstanding specialist plant nursery with gardens in Falcarragh 1 mile away.

Dunfanaghy (15 minutes by car) has restaurants, pubs, and an organic/wholefood shop. It also has an historic graveyard dedicated to the victims of the famines, and the Old Workhouse, now a museum.
Muckish Mountain, Errigal Mountain and Glenveagh National Park are a short drive away. Donegal retains traditional values. The local pubs have regular music sessions where Irish music both past and present is performed by local and visiting musicians. Anyone is welcome to join in. As Falcarragh forms part of the Gaeltacht (the Irish-speaking areas) you will hear the language spoken around you.

I am a choir director and I work at the Song House for part of the year, running singing holidays, choir leader trainings and more. I live in the old cottage attached, but come and go to England as well. I love gardening, and am developing the gardens at the Song House. I love this house, it has been a dream fulfilled to live in Ireland. I love the view, the area, the friendliness of the people, as well as the musician the pubs and the craic.
