Leh Ladakh · 民居里的独立房间 · 2室0床1.0卫 · 可住6人 · Real Homestay on the Outskirts of Leh City
If you are looking for a real Homestay experience around Leh but do not have the time to visit homestays in far flung villages, then you have landed at the right place. Unlike many other Homestay listings in Leh, this one is a real Homestay and not a Hotel, Guest House or a Motel. At my place, you will experience the real Ladakhi culture, tradition and cuisine with my family who also lives in the same house and will share the food and is always available for a chat over Chai. This is my family's property and my family will be sharing the space with you. We have three private rooms available for guests.
Even though we faced water and electricity outages during our trip, caused by heavy rain, Padma and her family provided water in buckets and still prepared breakfast and dinner for us. Padma also gave us recommendations and tipps what to eat and explore. Our stay gave us enlightening insight in the life of locals which we wouldn’t like to miss. The only downside was to use the bathroom during the night or early morning which is only reachable by taking the stairs outdoors.
Great stay. A very calm and a quite place. A homestay experience is truly amazing, a little far ( 15-20 mins) from the leh town but worth spending a night or two or even more just to spend some quite time with the nature. The food served was homey and very delicious. Received a warm welcome from the family. A Newly constructed place and very clean. Some of the Thiksey attractions are easily accessible.
Well to all the possible future travellers, padma's place is big, like really big & you can just walk around in the fields with vegetables growing, apples & apricots blooming, cats meowing and simply let the fresh air do its sorcery. Nights are magical & filled with millions of stars( yes you can see aakash ganga at night). Padma herself is a great host and an absolute delight to talk to. Her family is well a consortium of gems. Her parents & siblings are really, really wonderful. I instanty felt at home with everyone. If you want to carelessly walk around, eat home grown veggies, feel like you own an orchard( yes you can eat that apple right from the tree & it's pure delight), have a loving & caring family around you, you should surely visit padma's place.
Padma and her whole family made our stay in Ladakh fantastic and enjoyable. Her mother's cooking is absolutely delicious, her sister, her brother, her father - and not forgetting the cute little niece - they were all lovely. My cameraman and I came for a documentary shoot and it was really hard work every day in the high altitude, that we were not used to, sometimes getting up at 4:30 in the morning. But our stay would have been much more difficult and stressful without the family's help in really every situation. Thank you for everything - wishing you and your whole family health and happiness!
I chose Padma's place to experience true Ladakhi hospitality and they exceeded my expectations. She was very clear in her communications and was always available to clear my queries. The house was clean, the surroundings quiet and relaxing. It is very close to the Hemis monastery which according to me is truly impressive. It is within 2 kms from Karu on the Leh-Manali highway and is situated off the road leading to Hemis monastery. I would recommend stay at Padma's place clubbed with a visit to Hemis as well as the lakes Pangong/Moriri/Kar as the family will arrange transportation as well! Good luck and Cheers!
My home is located in the village of Martselang and is around 40 minutes drive (36 kilometers) from the city of Leh on the Leh -Manali highway. The world renowned Hemis Monastery is just 8-10 minutes drive from my home and a visit to Hemis Monastery is a must while staying here. From my home, one can also get a nice, scenic view of the Indus river.
Public transport situation is generally not good in Leh and it is little hard to find public transport (if that's what you are planning to use). However, shared cabs and buses run on a regular basis from Kharu to Leh city. Kharu is merely 10 minutes walk from my home. And if you are planning on having a private cab or rent out bikes, then there wont be an issue at all.
