Damithas place or as its known Saga home, was a truly a Nice place to stay. The street was quiet, shops were close, ocean even closer (sea there is phenomenal: not many tourists, water its ok to swim in, not many wawes, so what more does non surfer wants?). The price for the room + closnes of ocean and shops regarding to price was super great!! highly recomending, especialy it u te looking for the last beach time befor Colombo. We had super great time :)

I have just spent a delightful week here at Damitha's place in Ambalangoda. I'm leaving feeling refreshed and renewed. The accommodation is clean and very spacious, and there is a great, huge roof space with a view of the ocean and a fairly constant, cooling breeze. Damitha and his family are delightful and super helpful. The beach itself is a two-minute walk away, and unlike many of the beaches around here it is largely unspoiled, either by trash or by hotels. I’ve been swimming every day and feel revitalised by it. I don't know why anyone would stay in the more popular (and overrun) Hikkaduwa or the even more touristy Merissa. And at the incredibly low price that they offer here, you can hardly go wrong. If you happen need things that Ambalangoda can't provide (Italian restaurants, surf schools?!) you can always hop on one of the very frequent buses to Hikkaduwa (15 mins). But if you want a local Sri Lankan experience, with the most amazing local cuisine in authentic, non-tourist restaurants, then this is the place. Damitha can recommend some good places. There are also great fish and vegetable/fruit markets a ten minute walk away. I feel very privileged to have stayed here. The people of this village are genuine and welcoming, which is no longer necessarily the case in the larger tourist spots. There’s always a big smile and a greeting, and they go out of their way to help. After many months in India, this place feels a bit like heaven. Someone wrote a negative review of this place, which I just can’t understand. Just in case you haven’t been to South Asia before, the toilet system here is a kind of hose/bidet, much more hygenic than paper. However, there is now *always* loo roll available at Damitha’s place, if you prefer. It can get hot here, but the roof is always cool. And sometimes, like everywhere on the island, there will be power cuts—though there hasn’t been one since I’ve been here. That is a reality of life, and not the fault of Damitha or anyone else.

Very modern clean and open space. Can do your own cooking and shopping not too far. Beach is three minutes away. One of the most beautiful. Top floor is open for hanging out with others And watching sunset and stars. Recommend.

Пожалуй, лучшее место для бюджетного проживания) комнаты чистые и просторные, есть большая кухня, оснащенная всем необходимым: посуда, холодильник, тостер, микроволновка, чайник. Недалеко от хоста есть рынок, где можно купить продукты по приемлемым ценам, супермаркет также в пешей доступности (около 20 минут пешком). Знаменитый музей масок буквально в 10 минутах ходьбы. Душ и туалет находятся на этаже (общий). В целом все понравилось, хорошее жилье за эти деньги, рекомендуем)

Damitha's place was really peaceful and well located, just between the beach and the center of the town. The room was clean and we could enjoy the roof terrace everyday. Damitha was an attentive host, present every day and very helpful, always trying to find solutions and to give us useful advice. We strongly recommend this place !
