This is a good place to stay in South Mumbai which is not too expensive. The room is very clean and comfortable, with good wifi, aircon and lots of light. It feels private too . Bathroom isn't attached, but only for you, everything is well maintained. Breakfast is provided which is nice and Faheem is very kind and helpfully lets you suggest what you would prefer to eat. He is very keen that you have a good stay and everything goes to plan, paying alot of attention to detail. He likes to chat to his guests and get to know them a little. His sister is very sweet and friendly too. Perhaps if you want to step in and out of your accommodation in Mumbai quickly without paperwork and contact with your hosts this may not be for you, but if you want to have a nice comfortable and quiet room to relax in at the end of the day, where the small details like fresh linen, good towels and a bedside light etc have been taken care of, it's a good choice.
Faheem is a kind and respectful host. He likes to talk with his guests and know their impressions about Mumbai, their homecountries and life experiences. There is some paperwork to do before going there (he prefers to have all the info in advance), but if that doesn't worry you, just follow his detailed instructions: I personally find his house charming and inspiring, not to miss. Location top, close to train line, Marina, Fort and the victorian and art deco architectures in South Mumbai. I had the impression the area was particularly safe, also at night.
We had a great stay at Faheem's. The location is really good, easy for taxis to find and good restaurants and activities in walking distance. Felt safe and secure, and room was clean and comfortable with very good AC. Faheem is a thorough and dedicated host. Kitchen facilities weren't great but with so many places nearby it didn't matter, bathroom is private but you have to walk outside to get there - through a very lovely plant- filled balcony.
Loved the stay at Faheem's place. Faheem's attention to details was remarkable. Despite his own medical situation Faheem left no stone unturned to make my stay a very pleasant and memorable one. He is very friendly, kind & approachable. He holds some very interesting conversations too. Incredible property at the very heart of the city & Faheem's warm hospitality provided a home away from home feeling for me. Our stay at Faheem’s was generally good. Positives are the calmness of the room and the fact that the amenities were available as per description. Expect a decent room, in a common property in a not-so-touristy neighborhood. However, not only the bathroom is separate from the bedroom but it also requires to go through a common space to be used. During our 3-nights stay, Faheem made efforts to accommodate us (like replacing a toilet fausset) but on other levels, didn’t really adjust to our needs regarding our time constraints. This happened for example when we were checking out. We had mentioned to him we would have only a few minutes to spare before leaving, as we had other commitments. But Faheem insisted we do things his way, which involved a lot of talking and explaining of the feedback form we had already taken about 30 minutes to fill. Faheem is kind and informative yes, but interactions consisted mostly in us listening to him go in details about stuff. We usually didn’t

I have a PhD in Statistics from the University in North Carolina. My other two degrees are a BA in Math from the University of Cambridge, and a MSc in Math from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I've spent much of my life in various academic institutions. As you can see, my background is mathematical, but I also do a lot of stuff with computers, mostly at the software end. I tend to program in Python. My preferred operating system is Debian. I'm somewhat active on the Stack Exchange Q/A network. I've lived in the US and the UK for awhile. My favorite location is probably NC's Triangle. I like to dance, but locally opportunities are limited. Preferred dance: West Coast Swing. I also do yoga. A random selection of books I like: Nineteen Eighty Four, The Way of All Flesh, most things by David Lodge. Favorite writers include George Orwell, HG Wells, and Noam Chomsky. Music: Baroque choral music, particularly Bach. Also, in no particular order, Schubert, Handel, Schubert, Mozart, and Sibelius. As a host I'll be mostly hands off. I'll assume you want to be left alone, unless you indicated otherwise. If you want anything, just ask. I'll be handing out surveys to find how I can improve the guest experience. Answer them and help me improve. A NOTE ABOUT MY PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES: The flat/apartment you see in the listing was my mother's; she passed away in 2018. My father passed away a long time ago. I currently live here with my adult sister, who because of a serious childhood illness, is developmentally disabled/special needs and has the mental age of a 3- to 7-year-old child. My sister has lived in this flat all her life. When they were alive, my parents took care of her; now I do. She is a generally friendly and social person. She does require special understanding from guests, and everyone else. However, guests don't have to interact with her unless they choose to. Please feel free to ask questions if you require further clarifications.
