Our week at this Tuscany villa was simply wonderful. The views were stunning, and the property was spacious enough for our two families and kids to enjoy. The hosts were responsive and helped us arrange a chef and book local activities, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway in beautiful surroundings. The villa is very close to Lucca and a few really nice restaurants and vineyards.

Villa Borbone is a beautiful place to stay high in the hills of Lucca. It’s important to know that a car is really required and you must be good traveling up gravel switchback. Your effort is rewarded with the views. Wonderful facilities for a large group, peaceful (except for the cries of the peacocks) and a great pool. We hired chefs to cook for us two evenings (one also did a cooking class) that we highly recommend. Vipore restaurant is wonderful and nearby (walkable if you’re ok with steep roadway). The layout of the property is great if several in the group require a quiet space. The pool villa was perfect for our couple with an infant. There’s also another building by the pool that’s separate from the main villa which has 6 bedrooms. No issues with “neighbor” in the other half of the villa. All entrances are separate and private. Lucca is a great base for Tuscany and beyond - just factor in the drive time to get to the villa. A great stay in a traditional villa with modern flair!

We rented the villa for a week of vacation with friends and family. The location is hard to get to, especially if you are navigating for the first time in dark, but everyone made it okay there. The villa and the views were spectacular, and everyone was so pleased with it. There were many antique furniture, stone-carved sinks, etc. which were very cool to check out if you are in to that kinda stuffs. The history of the house brought so many stories with it, which was very entertaining and memorable too. We had issues with no hot shower in one side of the house, affecting 2 bathrooms, for 4 days out of the week long stay. They eventually sent a plumber who fixed the issue, but it was inconvenient and stressful when we had no hot water. The villa is a duplex, and there are people who live on the other side of the villa. They were mostly nice, unless you went into their yard -- then they yell at you and call up the house manager. Overall, a great stay.

We spent one week in Villa Borbone with a group of 17 person. The villa is located on a hill with a great view over Tuscany landscape. All rooms are similar in size and therefore the villa seems perfect for a big group. There are two additional houses, on of them with a kitchen. We used this extra villa for our friends with a small child. Contrary to the previous comment, the neighbor was more than friendly, he brought as self-made olive oil and self-made red wine when we were making pizza in the provided stone oven. He was never complaining about noise or anything else. We can absolutely recommend Villa Borbone for a stay in a group of friends but also with family. As it is located about 15-20 Minutes from Lucca, you definitely need a car for that accommodation. Enjoy your stay!!!

This is truly a historical home with so much charm. Our host was incredible. The views were priceless and I am sure the pool would be so great but it was too cold when we were there to enjoy. The home was pretty clean but also had a lot of webs/bugs that were visible. It's important to note that when they say 'self catered' they mean it will come with next to nothing - each bathroom has maybe one use of toilet paper and then we were out & given the location this was a problem. Speaking of the location - it's also important to know that there is a very crude neighbor who will yell at you for even looking in their direction (I hosted a retreat and a guest of mine was scolded for walking down the shared pathway and taking a picture of their well). The location is also one with which not a single cab wants to travel to so we struggled so much to get rides to and from the villa - I would suggest a rental car and be prepared for a steep & curvy climb....although worth it for the view!
