Giving 3 stars so more people read it. High level -- those pics make this place look like a modern villa built in the 2000s whereas it's really an old "Victorian" place from the 1800s. We had 18 people staying and rented the full place for 5 nights believing those beautiful pics. Here were the top 5 issues we recommend they fix if they can: 1. The house is so old it was missing door knobs and several people cut their hands by hitting sharp metal edges.. 2. An ant infestation up the wazoo! In the kitchen of all places! Daily morning ritual was murdering 600 ants to kick the day off 3. The master bedroom didn't have a door... right in the middle of the house with people walking past it constantly... no door wow 4. The hot tub was broken and that would have been okay if the pool was clean.. which it was not 5. We had strangers roaming the property throughout the week -- a guy with a blueprint came by, the landscaper was there every morning smoking cigarettes in the front lawn just chilling and enjoying the scenery Last item that didn't make top 5 was that when you pay $22k for an Airbnb, you'd want them to have better toilet paper than half-ply sandpaper. Come on y'all!

Robert was an amazing host! Super helpful, he stocked up the house with groceries before arrival, helped us arrange for a chef and house cleaners. Really went over the top to make sure the stay was great!

This property was beautiful, and overall a fair price for the size of the property. The backyard, pool area, and gardens were all incredibly beautiful and the barn was a great hangout spot for our group of 20. Check-in did not run smoothly as we had been offered an early check-in time, but then never received a gate code to actually access the property. It was disappointing as we were setting up for a bachelorette party and were unable to actually access the property, as promised, before the bride and the rest of the group arrived. We also were not able to access the house early, as expected, because the guests before us checked out late. This is understandable to me, but became problematic when the AirBnB host did not communicate this to me. I was standing outside the gate with no way to access the property and no communication from the host. Robert was kind enough to waive the pool heating fee for us and tried to help us problem solve when the pool and jacuzzi never actually felt warm. The jacuzzi finally heated up, but unfortunately the pool was never warm enough to go in on the gloomy days that were there. Tip for reserving: be mindful that this property also has their own website as an event venue and you can reserve a stay at the property through their website. So even if it shows up as available on AirBnB, that may not be true. We needed to book this last minute (the day before our arrival) because our other AirBnB cancelled on us. This was the only property available in the SD area that could hold a group our size and I was hopeful when the property listed availability for our entire 3 night stay. Then I ran into a problem hours later when I was notified that the property had been booked for a single night through their website so we could not stay there for the 3 nights we had intended. This, of course, is not Robert's fault at all. Just something to be aware of as you plan your trips.
