Tastefully decorated 2 bedroom, 1 bath home in Ajo's charming historic district. A perfect location for exploring the many sights available in the region. Located across the street from The Curley School and only a short stroll to Ajo's Spanish Colonial style plaza as well as the beautiful Catholic church, restaurants, art gallery and more. Located approximately 40 Miles to the Mexican border and just over 100 Miles to the Sea of Cortez. The house was built in 1942 by the Phelps- Dodge company, the mine owners. During that time much of Ajo was a “Company Town” . This house is a common 2 bedroom floor plan by the company. We haven’t altered much because we want to maintain the historical character of the home. Some of the furnishings have been handed down through our family. The Main bedroom has antique twin bed frames that belonged to Jill’s grandparents, we’ve combined them to create a king size bed. The dresser was used by her grandfather. The lamps were created using antique lamp parts by another family member who did this as a hobby and would gift them to his loved ones. Jill’s grandmother’s dresser is in the second bedroom with a queen size bed. Most of the art throughout the house was created by Jill, other family members and local artists. We think the kitchen is mostly original and we love the vintage style. We did ad 2 cabinets, upper and lower, near the stove to accommodate a microwave and make it more user friendly. Due to the layout a dishwasher wasn’t possible.
