Our cabins are off grid, located one mile east of El Morro National Monument, on highway 53 along the beautiful and historic Ancient Way Trail. This walk-in cabin has one queen size bed and a cot for a guest, with a desk for writing and table for preparing food. We have a water catchment system for washing. Drinking water provided. A private outdoor solar shower and portable toilet, for your own use, are steps away from the cabin. Beautiful views of Bond Mesa and Zuni Mountains from your porch. Our elevation is 7178 ft. There are hiking trails near by, including a portion of the Continental Divide Trail. You will have a chance to encounter a variety of flora such as piñon, juniper, and Gambel oak, and an array of wildflowers that bloom all through the spring, summer, and fall. While staying at the cabins you might spot elk, mule deer, or antelope passing through. This area is known for its array of geological formations, lava flows (Malpais), volcanos, mesas, and sandstone bluffs. Our evenings are always cool, and our dark sky State is known for extraordinary star gazing. Experience the celestial dome filled with stars and the Milky Way that stretches from horizon to horizon!
I knew from reading the reviews that I'd love my stay - and I did. The cabin was simple but elegant, cozy and clean, bright and full of character. (I'm a big fan of Hi Jolly, and the cabin's decor did not let me down.) Jon was the perfect host, too. He did everything from kicking the heat on before I got there to sending me off with a cup of coffee when I left. And he was such a joy to talk to! I'm definitely looking forward to going back!
Jon and Pam were both the most friendly hosts with a quaint and lovely store and peaceful, beautiful cabins. It’s half camping, half cabin rental so be prepared to shower with a cool portable water bag and cook outside without access to a sink. If you want to feel like you’re camping but have the comforts of a warm cozy bed, this is the perfect place. We loved every minute of it. The Hi Jolly cabin has a beautiful porch view and is so close to El Morro. The bed is super comfortable and they put so many warm blankets on it. We loved the whole property and how accommodating the hosts were.
Great little cabin near El Morro National Monument. Very clean and well cared for. Off grid but Jon and Pam provided everything we could need from lighted walkways, an outdoor shower, a cart to wheel luggage to the cabin, and lovely coffee from their store. Very private and quiet on a Sunday night. Beautiful scenery. Will definitely be back for a longer stay!
This cabin was adorable. Though it’s “off the grid” there was still solar lighting and a heater for when it got a little too cold. Everything was clean and exactly as I expected. Highly recommend.
Got there a little late but was easy to locate our cabin in the dark due to the solar lighting lit path and signs. Beautiful place to visit, very peaceful and quiet with a very pleasant host. Loved waking up to the swarms of humming birds in the morning and watching them from our front porch while enjoying a cup of garden mint tea.
