Argyll and Bute Council · 整套民居 · 5室5床3.0卫 · 可住8人 · Seaside family home for a smaller group.
A grade 2 listed Arts & Crafts house overlooking the Sound of Jura, Argyll. Built in 1929 for a large family, it's great for smaller family groups up to 7 too, with breath-taking coastal views. At almost 100 years old with all its architectural features & proportions, it’s an ideal place to relax in a special setting. A unique house, not a modern box! We are strict on the maximum numbers on this listing but can guests on our linked listing 'Loch Sween House - Seaside family holiday home'. The house runs over three floors, accessed by a beautiful pitch pine spiral staircase, with lots of space for all. There are sea views from many of the rooms and especially from the very large sitting room with dining area on the ground floor. Outside a large garden surrounds the house with places to sit and enjoy the views, or in more seclusion. There are areas of lawn front and back, trees and paths into wilder areas, over an acre of accessible garden space. Loch Sween House / Dun a Bhuilg is a dramatic and lovely grade II listed house, in very many aspects as it was built in the Arts and Crafts style in 1927, with the addition of modern benefits including (electricity!) , central heating, satellite TV and broadband (provided via wireless router the local 4G mast) and all the necessaries for a comfortable stay. Please note that in 'high season, school holidays, etc we have to favour Saturday to Saturday bookings (full weeks), and larger groups booking through our linked listing for the house ‘Loch Sween House -seaside family holiday home’.
The house and surroundings were magical and had everything we needed to feel right at home from the start.
The perfect place for our family holiday. Beautiful house, privacy and everything one could possibly want for a relaxing and active break. A short walk to an incredible beach and a lovely peaceful garden to relax in. Astounding views across the Sound of Jura. Lovely walks and great kayaking opportunities. Simon was responsive and friendly with helpful advice. Cannot recommend highly enough. We rarely go back to a holiday destination but would make an exception for this gem.
Loch Sween House is situated near by the clachan (handful of cottages) of Kilmory at the head of Loch Sween, with wide views to Jura and Islay and the West. The location is beautiful, remote and peaceful with Galloway cattle and sheep our most numerous neighbours! There is wonderful exploring to be had across the lovely Knapdale peninsula, with at least 3 sandy bays within 45 minutes hike as alternatives to Kilmory Bay below the house - often popular in good weather and school holidays. The house notes give directions to more secret bays that are often empty or almost empty of human life and the native wild life will outnumber you.
A particular recommendation locally is ‘Venture-West’ - fantastic fast wildlife boat trips to the Corryvreckan whirlpool off Jura and more, and they’re just a few miles down the road.
Guests really need a car to make the most of their stay. The nearest town (Lochgilphead) is a 40 minute drive away and there is no public transport to the house,.
