Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Formerly a racing stable in late 1700’s the Stable is furnished, decorated and equipped to a very high standard. It is set in a beautiful rural location only minutes from the Salcombe estuary and just 3 miles from the South Hams coastline and sandy beaches, adjacent to Easton Court and a working farm. It is fully equipped and a favourite with all our guests. It has two patio areas with furniture so guests can enjoy morning and afternoon sunshine. Accommodation A short flight of steps up to the front door, the light and airy living room partially divided from the kitchen, is comfortably furnished and has polished slate floor, curved wall and woodburner set in a stone hearth and French windows. TV/DVD/video and portable CD/radio. The very well fitted and equipped kitchen/diner has an electric hob and built-under oven, microwave, integral fridge and freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and part glazed door to patio. A fitted bench and chairs provide seating around the dining table. Oak stairs lead from the living room to two bedrooms, one overlooking the courtyard, the other with rural views. Both have TV sockets, fitted pine cupboards and en-suite shower rooms with shower cubicle, basin and WC. Bedroom 1 has a 4ft 6in double bed and a 3ft single bed. Bedroom 2 has a 4ft 6in double bed. Outside A patio area with garden furniture is accessed from the kitchen and borders the courtyard of Easton Court, a good spot for an evening drink. A further small patio at the front with table, chairs and barbecue, a great spot for catching the evening sun. Parking A gravel driveway and courtyard beside the property (shared with Easton Court) for 2 cars. We have just spent a lovely few days at The Stable. Joy is a great host who was on hand to meet us when we arrived and always available to answer any questions we had. The location is very quiet and peaceful, but only a short drive to Kingsbridge or Salcombe and other local attractions. The Stable was clean and tidy and had everything we needed for our stay.
Joy's place makes a great base for exploring the surrounding area. It was a 20min walk to Kingsbridge, which would have been shorter if we chose to cross the cow field on the way there. Everything was spotlessly clean, it had a good WiFi connection to plan the day ahead and make bookings. The place is next to Joy's house and another rental, but feels very private with its own two gardens and is quiet and peaceful to sleep in. Water pressure and temperature were great and beds were very clean and fairly comfortable. My only reservation which is that since COVID it is a norm to have to leave by 9am, which feels quite rushed. I hope with time that can go back to the more comfortable 10 am. The check in times also seem later, but again not only applicable here. Overall I would heartily recommend this property and would love to come back.
Fantastic week with at The Stables! We stayed in Salcombe last year and this was much better! House was perfect for what we needed and was a home away from home. We travelled with a 4 year old and 18 month old and took our own toys/books/activities but there were so many books/toys and games already at the house! Also had a baby gate which was very helpful! Overall great location and a short distance to all the local beaches. We knew the beaches well as have been before but both Joy and Steve were so helpful with other suggestions. Lovely couple will definitely look to book next summer!
Lovely little cottage outside kingsbridge. Warm, cosy & clean. Lovely welcome with scones after a long drive!
We had a lovely stay at The Barns! Joy was very accommodating and gave brilliant recommendations for walks and restaurants. The house was beautiful and cosy - overall a perfect trip away!

Easton is a collection of old barns and workers cottages. It is a peaceful, relaxing setting. Some guests just want to enjoy the barn and all it has to offer. Others like to enjoy the amazing South Hams area and return to relax after making the most of the AONB beaches and walks.
The Stable at Easton Court has a large courtyard area to the front where guests can park their cars. Please confirm how many cars prior to arrival. This is also shared with guests at The Court, an adjoining property.
The majority of guests drive around the area. Some moor boats in Salcombe to enjoy the sheltered estuaries and numerous beaches. Buses are available from Kingsbridge. Nearest train station is Totnes. There is a local taxi service.
