Comfortable stay with helpful and friendly staff who were accommodating with flexible checkout when ferry off of Nantucket was cancelled. Although this seems to be one of the best deals on Nantucket, it still seems like a lot to pay. It was .7 miles from the downtown area, which is doable if you don’t mind walking. It was quiet during our visit as it was opening weekend for Daffodil festival.

Couldn't stay there because we couldn't make it to Nantucket; the ferries were not running due to high winds and high seas. We had hoped that the Beachside would provide some accommodation -- a partial refund or credit -- due to the circumstances, but we didn't hear anything back. I understand about "non-refundable" reservations, but some middle ground here would just be good business.

We really love The Beachside and would stay there again! The pool is nice, and the location cannot be beat (walking distance to all of town)! The staff are great and so friendly! :)

When researching before booking the room with air b n b I called the Beachside and very specifically explained that a 97 year old handicapped elder would be staying and needed appropriate accommodations, I was entirely misled, as I was assured by the person on the phone who I spoke with that the room we booked through air b n b was such... and as it turned out it was very much not so at all. I made note of the handicapped necessity multiple times throughout our booking process and leading up to arrival and was never given any indication that this might be an issue. However it did turn out to be a real issue, and it was a seriously difficult situation to deal with. This certainly should have merrited some sort of refund compensation after paying over $1500 for two nights. The only reson we were able to stay at all was that we had brought our own portable hadicapped comode toilet for emergency use, which unpleasantly had to be kept next to the bed and used instead of the bathroom which was entirely unusable for the handicapped person. Additionally the air conditioning/heating unit in the room was unusable as it was clearly broken and immediately put off a toxic stench when turned on. (We were told maintenance would come look at it the following day.) The bathroom doorway was so narrow that it is entirely unusable for a person with a walker, let alone a wheel chair. There was a lip we had to lift the wheelchair over to.enter the room and the room was too small to move around with the wheechair once inside. This room was pretty much the opposite of accessible. I do not know how such an extreme mistake in oversight was made, it was very disappointing. The bathroom itself was also poorly maintained and did not seem to have been well kept for some time. The closet door was broken, making half of the closet unusable as well. Overall it made the room feel poorly maintained and certainly not worth the large cost per night. The location IS wonderful, by far the best thing going for this space, but this did not make up for what was lacking and entirely misrepresented. We really had to problem solve ourselves. If the beachside does actually want guests to feel taken care of then in this situation certainly offering a refund of some sort after such a disappointing mistake on their part would have been an appropriate offer to make. This was not offered. They were fully booked so could not offer us any handicapped room at all. If we had not brought our own toilet we would have been utterly screwed. This was a very unpleasant situation to find ourselves in after a long day of traveling with a 97 year old and no real solution offered by the inn. They did manage to bring a small ramp the following day to make it easier to wheel the wheelchair into the room and offered extra blankets since the heat didn't work. Overall really not worth the cost or hassle.
