Highly Recommend , Very cozy quaint old school Bed & Breakfast that’s family run. Hosts are very polite and inviting. Rooms have everything you need for a relaxing stay and outside it’s in the state forest so wildlife run free We saw multiple deer turkey and such plus the scenery is beautiful Huge Open gravel/dirt parking for multiple sized vehicles and trailer camping gear Only thing bad I guess is not many restaurants and maybe snowy months might be hard to get in and out Would come back with my family in a heartbeat 5/5 Thank you for hosting us

Our stay was exactly as we expected. We were greeted at the door and quickly shown to our room. Although the lodge and amenities are a little older everything was very clean and had a homey comfortable feel. Breakfast was just like home as we were allowed to choose whatever we liked from the well stocked fridge and pantry while we enjoyed some morning conversation with Jules and/or Mark.

I'm not sure how the Brass Lantern got the reviews it has. Property has old vehicles and machinery sitting around. When we first opened the front door we were hit with a strong old musty smell. It didn't get any better as we were taken to our room. The hall was sorely outdated, stain on the ceiling, and our room furnishings were old, and not in a good old fashion decor kind of way. The deck was cluttered w/ old furnishings and odd stuff. I would have been sick if I stayed there because of the mold, which the owner denied existing. He also mumbled something to the effect that I needed to drop my high standards. He did issue us a refund, which I appreciate. But be sure this is NOT a quaint lodge as in a western lodge or a victorian BnB. If you are mold sensitive or sensitive to musty old houses, you may want to reconsider.

I went with three of my friends for fall break, and we had a great stay at the Lodge! Our surroundings were quiet, peaceful, and stunningly beautiful, especially since the fall foliage in Cook Forest was around its peak. The place was cozy and warm - exactly the atmosphere we'd been hoping for as a few midterm-weary college students. Mark kindly offered to build us a bonfire upon our arrival. We enjoyed getting to sit and chat on the upstairs porch, and were grateful to our hosts for letting us use the grill to cook, as well as for the grace they extended to us when it became clear that a couple of us were getting sick! The continental breakfast was a wonderful start to the morning, too, and with the bagels, tea, and fresh fruit, my sweet vegan friend had no trouble either. I think we all came away feeling refreshed. We feel extremely blessed to have found such a gem for such an affordable price, and I think all of us would happily book with Mark and Jules again.
