Welcome to this thoughtfully preserved 110 year old, original Chicago brick home, just 3 blocks from the Lake Michigan shoreline. Lots of charm and character in this storied home with a serene backyard oasis in the heart of the city! While this historical gem is the perfect private getaway for you & family, its location makes it easy to get around. You are: 1 Block to L train, Sushi, Thai, Coffee, Loyola 15 min: Wrigley 18 min: Downtown Every corner of this property has been lovingly cared for to breathe new life into this storied Chicago home while still preserving its history and charm. This craftsman style home features plaster walls, an original nickel mirror on closet door, and a mix of original and period replicated hardware throughout. From the quiet, tree-line street you'll meet a grand, 2 story red brick home with a welcoming wreath on its glass and oak door. Take a journey back in time as you step onto vintage tile floors and head up the ornate wooden stairs under the art deco light fixtures to your second floor abode. Inside, the large foyer opens to the living room which has ample seating. Relax by watching a movie (Apple TV & Netflix provided) or, in the adjoining sun room, enjoy a beverage and peaceful views of the neighborhood. Down the hall, the master bedroom is on the left with two additional bedrooms on the right. Each bedroom has plenty of closet space and a ceiling fan for those that enjoy a little breeze. The hall opens to a grand dining room with expandable table that seats up to 10 so this room can comfortably accommodate just two for a romantic dinner or host a large group for a bustling family meal. Chicago is known for world class restaurants, but sometimes we all need a nice home-cooked meal, right? That's why our kitchen is fully stocked with all the spices & essentials you'll need to prepare a delicious meal of your own, if you choose to. The kitchen also features a pass-through to the dining room with generous bar seating so everyone can interact while meals are prepared. The dining room also opens to a fun sun room with a wall of windows overlooking the trees in the lovely backyard. I recommend sipping a cup of tea and spinning a record while you watch the birds. The comfy couch opens to a full-size pull-out sofa bed. The house is spacious with lots of little areas for family or friends to spend time together or do their own thing. While the home is equipped to host 8 people, we think the perfect group size is 5-6. We're happy to host all 8, but keep in mind it will be a little cozier. If you need longer availability than what is showing on our calendar, please message us as we may have availability additional in our unit. For groups larger than 8, we do have a bonus unit in this building that can sleep an additional 8 people - please inquire if interested.
We gathered as a family to celebrate a Loyola graduation. The location could not have been better. The street was quiet, beautiful, and tree-lined. The unit has great space for gathering - living room area and dining room/sunroom area. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, and we had plenty of towels and linens for our group of seven. Great place and weekend! Thank you!
Perfect place to stage move out with my Loyola freshman. We felt right at home and had every luxury we ever dreamed of. Lovely brownstone on a shaded street in great area. We hope to make it a regular tradition to return!
Christi was very easy to talk to and very helpful throughout our stay. The apartment is very convenient to the subway and is only a couple of blocks from the Lake. Loyola is also a nice campus and a nice area. I will say that if we weren't going to be attending a Loyola related event, I might opt for staying somewhere closer to downtown. If you want this area, this apartment is a great find. Thank you, Christi!
Place was exactly what our group needed for the weekend, convenient to the L stop and a delicious local coffee shop.
Quiet and peaceful families/college students in this neighborhood. Very safe to walk day or night. 1/2 block from the Red Line el to Wrigley or Downtown.
2 blocks to Loyola north shore campus and 5 blocks to beautiful Hartigan Beach and playground.
LOTS of restaurants and lounges with live music, in the area with a diverse array of cuisine (Thai, Ethiopian, Cuban, Bubble Tea, Peruvian, Indian, Jamaican, American, and more within 5 minutes).
Grocery, bank, Starbucks, pharmacy, and local coffee within 3 blocks.
The neighborhood is very walkable to get to most things you might need or want to do. We are very close to the Red Line el and express bus to downtown/Michigan Ave.
Parking:
Our block has zoned parking Monday through Friday 8am - 9pm. The city allows us to purchase a limited number of guest stickers each month. We can provide a minimum of one parking sticker for everyday you'll need it. If you'll need more than that, let us know how many cars and nights and we'll do our best. There is metered parking 1/2 block away which you do not need a sticker for but you'll have to feed the meter 8am - 10pm. Further away is non-zoned, free, residential parking.
When you arrive, parking stickers are located in the drawer of the entryway table just inside your unit. Fill out the start date and time and they are each good for 24 hours. You don't need a parking pass on Saturday or Sunday.
