Step 1 After you have collected your car at Heraklion Airport, head out of the departure area, and head towards the traffic lights, at this point the terminal building is BEHIND you. Head a couple of hundred metres and turn right before the bridge following the green sign showing “RETHYMNO 80”. This will take you onto the National Highway. Follow the National Highway West bound, skirting Heraklion. You will reach a junction signposted KNOSSOS, with a flyover above, go straight across. Step 2 Continue on along this road to the first main turning on your right. This is clearly signposted “Pankrito Stadium” (HUGE GREEN SIGN). At the bottom of the slip road, there will be traffic joining from the left. Be very careful. Continue straight, to the first set of traffic lights. Turn Right at the lights (Do not go under the flyover). You will see “Eurobank” on your Right. Step 3 A few metres after you turn, you will see a large store called “Jumbo” on your right. Turn RIGHT just before the store and immediately RIGHT again, doubling back on yourselves. Continue for 100 metres to a small junction where the traffic direction means you must go left. Continue along this road until you reach a crossroads with a Shell petrol station on your right. Turn right here. Continue along this road, over a bridge that crosses the National Highway. Step 4 Continue for approximately 10km, following the road. (At one point the road forks, keep left). You will pass through MALADES and then pass an EKO petrol station on your left. Once passed here you will wind up hill for a short while and will see a turning on your right for “METOHI TSANGARAKI 3km”. Take this turn and head up towards the village. You will see a sign showing you are entering the village. Directly opposite this sign on the left is Maria’s House. You pass through the large blue gates and head up the sloping driveway and park behind the house. Welcome to Maria’s House. The owners are Mary and George
