We fell asleep with fireflies dancing above us, surrounded by the sounds of nature and awoke able to watch hummingbirds in the early light of dawn from bed in this beautiful wood structure with no solid walls. However, we had several frustrations that ultimately led us to leave early. My kids first discovered there was no internet, which we needed because they had homework to keep up with. I also found several other things missing from the house that were promised in the listing, including one fewer bed than listed. The washing machine was there as promised, but the parts were in the drum, apparently some assembly was required. These discoveries came after we arrived an hour later than we anticipated due to the most vague and unhelpful directions. We did see lots of beautiful birds, butterflies, flowers, and the path to the river. This could be a charming rental if the description accurately described what was there and usable so renters expectations aligned with their experience.

We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad in Longo Mai. Het huis van Lucida is zeer ruim en comfortabel met een grote functionele keuken en grote eettafel, ruime badkamer met een goede douche met warm water en 2 ruime slaapkamers. Bijzonder zijn de 2 grote schuifpanelen waardoor je je gewoon buiten waant. Je hebt geen last van verkeerslawaai, het enige wat je hoort zijn de vogels. Communicatie met Lucida verliep super, we konden met al onze vragen bij haar terecht. Wat ons verblijf heel bijzonder maakte is dat Lucida en haar broer Aino zorgden dat we in contact kwamen met de plaatselijke bevolking van Longo Mai en hun manier van leven. We hebben schitterende wandelingen gemaakt met uitleg van de ecologische landbouw hier, de planten en al het fruit dat je in de natuur vindt; tijdens een workshop geleerd hoe men chocolade maakt en bij een gezin aangeschoven om zelfgemaakte pupusas te eten. Omdat zoveel te doen was hebben we zelf nog 2 nachten bijgeboekt.
