Historic house in a great location for a real get away. We loved the history of the house - which dates back to the 1690s. A great view of the water in setting that makes you feel isolated. You can stay at the house to kayak, bike, fish or crab. Or you can go nearby to soak up the best the Virginia Eastern Shore has to offer in Cape Charles, Onancock or Chincoteague. If you go in the summer - bring bug spray. The mosquitoes are fierce. Karen was a great host and offered good suggestions on what to do. No TV was a blessing to help disconnect. The house was plenty big to accommodate a large family.

We had a fantastic stay at Karen's beautiful bayfront home. The kids really enjoyed playing in the water and using the kayaks. We were comfortable and would definitely book again.

This is the most beautiful place. I am British and felt transported back to an old English house. Unlike most houses that seem to be within a stone's throw of the next house on the shore, this house stands alone with vast lawn leading down to the marsh and bay - the sun rises across the bay - glorious colours. We pulled oysters from the bay and enjoyed cayaking even in November. Chincoteague felt horribly commercial and built up by comparison and we were happy to retreat to the house to light a fire, make blueberry cobblers and play games. Thank you to our hosts for creating such an characterful and personal space.

Staying at Karen's was a special weekend for us and our friends. The house was charming and had plenty of room for our two families. Nights were peaceful and quiet. The marsh is an impressively conserved ecosystem, we were delighted by kayaking just a 2 minute walk through grasses and scurrying baby crabs. We saw osprey hunting and a bald eagle. Next time, we will definitely take a tour to the barrier islands. Nearby, we ate at the Island House Restaurant twice; they have the best crab cakes I've tasted. We went to the sandy beach at Cape Charles. It was great to get away from the bustle of more touristy areas. We are looking forward to coming back!

We had a fabulous time in your home, location was perfect. Enjoyed the quiet, scenic atmosphere. Plenty of space both inside and out! Some went out on kayaks, we brought some yard games, comfy outdoor furniture, had a blast cooking together. Glad you didn't have TV! Thanks for sharing your home!
