Manager was great at communicating. Previous cleaners did not do a great job so management sent out cleaners right away to accommodate
Good location overall near Paso Robles but would have been nice to know it’s a poorly maintained dirt track to get to. Main door wasn’t even locked/capable of being locked. We saw a mouse running around the kitchen the first night and mouse traps throughout the kitchen. Wanted to grill and hang outside but there’s a rat living in the grill and spiderwebs/dirt caking all the outside furniture. It’s a cabin but these things can be cleaned and maintained better. Great open windows throughout but no curtains so it’s bright at dawn and anyone in the back yard can see straight into the downstairs shower. Which coincidentally has taps on the side wall because of the full higher window on the end wall so the water sprays straight at the shower curtain and it’s impossible not to soak the floor. Would not recommend.
This could be an amazing property, but in our opinion it’s not quite ready to host. The property is fairly remote and the road in is unpaved and can be difficult to navigate for some cars. If you’re looking for some peaceful isolation, this place certainly provides that. Cell service is spotty and, unfortunately, so is trash service. When we arrived, the dumpster in the front of the home was overflowing and you could smell the trash in the summer heat. So could the animals, and there was evidence that animals had torn through some of the bags and tossed trash around outside the bin and several bags were split open and spread around on the ground around it. The inside of the home was clean with nice furniture and finishings, however some of the windows did not have screens, which we discovered at night when we tried to air the place out from the summer heat. As you might expect from a cabin in the forest, there were tons of bugs, and the lack of screens for some windows meant that you couldn’t open them at night to get any air because bugs would be attracted to the lights and come directly in. Even with those windows closed, there were many small flying creatures that found their way inside at night. They were all over the ceiling lights and we could feel them on and off our skin for the one night we stayed at the home. The real deal-breaker for us was the air conditioner. The property does have an air conditioning unit, but not all of the vents work and there were no vents in the bedrooms. The upstairs bedroom was uncomfortably hot, even with the air on. There are many windows, providing excellent views upstairs, but only two of the windows opened - the rest were picture windows. We spent most of the night tossing and turning because of a combination of heat and bugs. Overall we were disappointed with our stay. Again, this place has a lot of potential and with a little work could be very comfortable and cozy, but it’s not quite there yet.
