This is a unique and warm abode, filled with good books (including a memoir written by the host!), impactful art and a diverse collection of records, as well as LOTS of cozy velvet and comfortable furnishings. It's right by the river in a friendly neighborhood, and we had a nice chat with one of the neighbors. The outside areas are green and inviting! It feels like staying in a friend's, and we would love to come again.

This place was perfect for us to get away from the city and unwind. Steps from the Klickitat River and the Klickitat River trail. Sophia was warm, responsive, easy going. She has upgraded an old house in the flats along the river, two blocks from the center of town, into a warm, funky, vintage style home: lots of velvet, cushions, ottomans, antiques, original art and framed prints of classical paintings, and an impeccable, vast library of classic and modern literature, fiction, history, philosophy, social criticism, poetry, from Epictetus to Inga Muscio. Great retreat for writers & book lovers. Great place for outdoor activities. Super comfy king bed, beautiful updated bathroom. Be forewarned: this is not the anonymous pristine hotel-style stay of many Airbnbs; this is an old house lovingly remade by someone with a great artistic sensibility; real neighborhood of local residents, all of whom were friendly and warm. We loved it there.

I loved my time here. It’s an ideal spot for a getaway (solo or couple). The cottage is rustic and cozy, filled with books and paintings and ottomans. Hammock, charcoal grill, and wildflowers in the yard. Located in a tiny, lovely canyon town (Klickitat, WA) on a residential street, only steps from the Klickitat River. The 1hr 45min drive from Portland is beautiful. Highly recommend!
